Sorry Katwoman, we've all collectively been given the finger by JJ and crew. In "real time" the monster attacks on January 18th, 2008. Check the pictures on 01-18-08.com. The movie if it takes place in May is essentially OOG by the normal standards we've used since finding 01-18-08.com. It sucks and I'm a little pissed about it. My wife is literally making me go see it since, "you've been obsessed with it for so long".

I really hope that the numbers at the bottom of the screen saying 5-22 instead of 1-18 is not a good enough reason for you to not want to see the movie. That's just childish. Sure, the viral stuff wasn't included, but honestly that just got us more excited about the movie, not the main reason TO see it.

If you decide to not see it, then don't. But I don't really see the point in trying to drag everyone else's excitement down with posts like these... It's a really good movie with a badass monster that we've all been obsessing about for months. Go see it, and enjoy it for what it's worth. When was the last time you got this excited about ANYTHING?

Just my $.02.

Nah, it's not like that at all. I still want to see this movie and by all means I want everybody who is into monster movies to go check it out. If you are into ARGs? Not so much.

I'm saying I was jazzed about the movie, really looking forward to seeing it. I was close to trying out for one of the early showings that was "in my area". I contemplated going to the 11:59 showing even though I work at 4am the next day. This movie was going to be TIGHT and I told all my friends so. Now? meh Unless my wife is serious and is going to "make me see it" I'll go when I've got a free afternoon. Seeing as I've got 2 children under 3 who knows when that'll be.

The last time I got this excited about ANYTHING? Easy. 7 month ago when my youngest daughter was born. When was the last time I was this let down? hard to say

To me this is the movie equivalent of "and then he woke up and was relieved to find it was all a dream", one of the weakest endings in all of literature.
(let down is too harsh sounding and so is dissapointed, trust me, I'm not losing sleep over this or anything)

LOL!

This sounds exactly like my situation. I'd love to see Cloverfield, but my wife wants to see 22 Dresses and its hard pressed to get my parents to babysit more than once in a week.

22 Dresses.......lol

Okay, if LC has really seen the film, then they may be able to tell us what the hell part of the monster are we seeing when it slips behind the buildings in trailer 2.

Are you still beating a dead horse?! Guess what dude, they had screenings. All of them seem to match each other as well, you didn't have to open this thread.

I'm cooking up crow just for you.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Well, I still stand by my previous choice for closest drawing for the monster, BUT the head shape on that pic is almost perfect. If anyone has seen "I Am Legend", the color of the monster closely resembles the "zombies" in that movie. The feet of the monster seem a lil better too in your pic.

To be honest, that part of the trailer is the unedited movie version. You actually don't get to see the monster for at least another 15-20 min. It looks like the back leg though, and you can also kind of see the "baby" arms on it.

lol. Honestly, that part of the movie still keeps you guessing at what the monster really is. there is at least 2 more occasions that "show" part of the monster until it really appears. so for that time period your still guessing. it was awesome how they did that.

So all of which we've been discussing for so many weeks have been debunked since it's not in the film?

Also, are we seeing this in this scene?

or are we seeing something else?

Ok, thanks. Now as far as the monsters nose....is it flat against its face, or does it kind of come out?....

I don't understand what you mean...the monster is shown in the movie, but all the parts that have been released in trailers do not help piece together the puzzle of the montser's design. I promise you that the monter is incredibly original and has a lot of different features that were mentioned here but also quite a few that no one could have guessed or hypothesized.

elements from the ARG aren't in the film but i guess thats the incentive for playing the game Smile. There is a scene in the movie where there is a random shot of the party and it has a girl that looks like Jamie passed out on the couch and you can also kind of see the Tagruato tanker logo in a news feed but that's pretty much it.

Honestly I can't tell from the pic which scene that is BUT i can tell you that usually when MGP is being fired at, it is looking in the direction of the attackers.

I think you are making it too small. I believe there is more to it in the smoke area or behind the building to the right.

Sorry if I didn't state that clearly. That is from the scene shown in the TV spot "Breathe" (http://www.cloverfieldnews.com/2008/01/10/new-tv-spot-breathe) where they're firing at the beast. Something hits the monster and it turns around and stamps off in the other direction. I'm asking if what I've labeled on the picture matches up to what's on the monster in the film.

To me, it looks like they nail him in the side of the face with a missile and he "runs" away.

WELL, right before the credits end, there is a very static radio transmission sound with a voice trying to come thru...It kind of sounds like Rob but its VERY hard to tell who or what is being said. To me it doesnt try to allude that Rob is still alive, but it may be like a static replay of his last moments or something. 7 people, including myself, could not clearly hear what was being said at the end...so i guess it could mean anything
