JJ Abrams Called Local Radio Program
No spoilers and some Lost talk

JJ Abrams called in to my favorite morning radio show this morning, Preston & Steve. The show in the past has held some huge events for Lost, including an end of season party every year. They rent out a big space and hundreds of people come and watch the final episode together. They give away prizes, dress like characters, etc. It's become quite a big event. And over the years they have attracted the attention of some of the people involved with Lost, including JJ Abrams.

Thus, he called in to the show and talked about Cloverfield. No spoilers, but some interesting conversation. Once they post the pod cast this afternoon, I'll link to it. Sadly, I missed the first half of the interview, I was taking my son into school and came out to find them talking Cloverfield. Si I might have missed something, but we'll get it on the podcast later today. Sad

Basically he trumped up the movie, and especially the actors involved. He said that they are not big stars now, but after the movie they will be. He said that after watching the final cut he feels there is no reason why there can't be a number 2, 3 or even 4. It's that good.

They also talked Lost - he said they had 8 episodes in the can before the writer's strike, so there can be some semblance of a season this year despite the strike perhaps.

Anyway, I'm sure this is actually part of a press junket - so turn on your local radio show. You might catch JJ discussing Cloverfield this morning.

EDIT: The interview with JJ is about 3/4 of the way into the podcast. Click the link above to hear. I asked for permission to re-post just the JJ part but they haven't gotten back to me.

I had been trying to get O&A talking about Cloverfield forever. They never went for it. Sucks.

2, 3, or 4?

Jesus, I think a 2 is ok, but I don't want it to become Shrek.

Ack, I mis-heard this. I'm separating out the Cloverfield portion now. What he said was 2 or 4 or 8 episodes of LOST this season. Not the movie. As I said, I came in late to the interview. That saying about "assuming" rings true...

JJ Abrams was also on KROQ's Kevin & Bean show this morning:

The interview starts at 14 minutes exactly.

JJ reveals the Cloverfield monster is NOT the smoke monster from Lost.
