What I'd Expect...

They are keeping the NYC party events very secretive. No telling what is going to be at that bar. Could just be free drinks, movie actors/actresses and 100 movie nerds...I would be shocked if there wasn't a screening. But on the same note, I couldn't imagine them fitting 200+ people to sit and watch a movie in a tiny NYC bar...the 200 would really be 400, to include the +1 on most winners, but I'm guessing its gonna be a 35-50% turn out rate. Giving it a second thought, a screening would be impossible unless they took everyone to a theater, which would be more trouble than its worth. If I was going, I'd expect free drinks, meet and greet, possibly gift giveaways and raffles, maybe a video message from JJ himself. To expect more, might just be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Anyone who isn't going, I'd still like your tickets and I'm sure Jook feels the same way...

Getting out of work late that day and have to be in early the next day, someone at work died and my day off was cancelled. Was gonna travel to meet a group, but now I'm just going to see it at the 34th street leow's.

Would rather have wound up at the surprise party with paramount pictures funded drinks, but such is life.

Maybe it's really a ploy and it's just a cultist suicide party and all the winners are really losers in that fact.

Worst case scenario is MGP actually comes to the city. In that case, we're all screwed.

I think the best advice for anyone going is that you should have no expectations. I remember for the Year Zero ARG there was a "meeting" in Hollywood that everyone felt was going to lead to a free NIN concert since the location was across the street from a high school gymnasium. The meeting turned out to be a clue and not a concert, as many had expected.

I went because it is close to me. But I ran into people there that drove down from Sacramento that were really disappointed. On the message boards, there was a guy that said that he flew in from Germany and he was actually pi$$ed off.

So my best advice is to just take it as an excuse to go to NYC for the weekend and if anything cool happens than it is a bonus. I did not get a call, but that is how I justified to the wife and she was totally down for it.

The winners don't get "tickets"
They take your info and you show up with your driver's license
I promised Shadowfury my ticket. At that time I had missed the call.
I called back and then they ended up calling me back for the invite.
If I could pass it on, I absolutely would

Sucks to be missing out...

I bought my tickets for a Thursday midnight showing in Long Island. A little disappointed I didn't get the invite to NYC. Been involved on the front lines since Transformers, but the party isn't what I've been working for I guess. The movie itself and the extra personal involvement I'll feel during the film is what I've been doing this all for. I'll admit, the party would have been a nice ending to this whole experience, but it would have hurt the next day at work lol. So to all who are going on Wednesday night, document it well. All of us who will be sitting around waiting for a detailed description of what we missed will be depending on you lucky people.

I don't even like to go into Long Island to visit family, never mind see a movie. Why not see it in one of the 1000000 theaters doing a midnight showing in the city?

Ughh LI...

I have friends in LI who refuse to come out to me. None of my city-dwelling friends are into this movie (freaks lol). So I bought a ticket and plan on traveling to Long Island after work and getting perfect middle theater seats. Bringing my 3D glasses from Beowulf just in case, jk.

party

From what ive read, its not free drinks... but im kinda confused why its open for 18+ when legel age is 21.... so why would they open it up for younger people?

I dont expect a movie showing either. which is all good. I'll just see it when i get back to vancouver.

And its kinda lame how many people seem to be bailing. but its all good, ill be there camera in hand documenting everything... It should be a good time. but I cant have expectations....

You talking about Westbury? Only place I can find on LI so far, a little far from me though so I'm hoping a couple more pop in the next few days.

well, i just got off the phone with my stepdad, who decided a 1600Km drive for a party isnt worth it. so my +1 is open, with a catch, i need to get from Toronto to NYC... it works out to about 8hrs either way... i was gonna train and just invite a nyc er to join me, but the train doesnt get to nyc till 10. which is cutting it to late. Any toronto fans wanna go on a roadtrip? ill split gas. im so pissed cause he said he would, now hes bailing on me....

Greetings! Long time lurker, first post.

I got the call at 8:48 pm EST. She asked if my the name in my RSVP matched the name on my ID. Told her my wife's name for my plus 1 and she asked me if she was over 18. I told her I wasn't that kind of a guy, of course she is. She told me to bring my camera "so I can post pics on myspace."

So, I don't know what I'm wearing (a battle in itself), but I'll be rocking a Nikon D40x with a zoom lens. We're going to try to get there by 9ish. Find a bar close by if we have to, there are many.

I really hope they have a screening.

18+... probably not an open bar.

Other than that, I have no expecations.

Can't wait.

I would love to go but if I did I would probably end up flirting with some straight girl and not paying attention to the movie.
