[INFO]Cloverfield Monster Designer -Peter Konig I WILL post a pic of MGP here if I get one Doing a search on Tippett Studio's website gave me nothing about Cloverfield, so I started googling all TS employees, and found this:
Quote:
Peter Konig has worked on over 30 feature films and contributed to over 50 next-generation video game titles. He has spent his career sculpting, designing, concepting, animating and art directing. He has played key roles in many film projects such as Dragonheart (Tippett Oscar nomination), Starship Troopers (Tippett Oscar nomination), Evolution, and Blade II among many others. Pete also recently created another dragon design for the just released film "Enchanted", and is Tippett's art director for the upcoming, top secret JJ Abrahms production "Cloverfield". (Don't bother asking anything about that one because he won't say a word!) Pete lives in Oakland, California.
Here's his profile from conceptart.org, a forum he posts on
http://www.conceptart.org/?artist=Smellybug
And a link to his webpage:
http://www.peterkonig.com/2006/flash.html
There's several examples of his work in both pages, and one thing I know about people that do concept designs, is that they usually have a certain style they like to stick with. Could one of these designs be a "Concept MGP" or maybe the actual beast? There's a couple in there that fit what we think we know about MGP.

Yeah, he's the art director. not sure if he's actually designed the Cloverfield monster all by himself but a lot of his art sure looks cool, especially the monster ones. possible they are concept art for MGP that never was used. probably so secret that he's not allowed to put some on his site yet.

I don't think they'd post a picture of GP anywhere even if they didn't say that it was, I'm sure whatever they were made to sign would forbid them doing so.
Based on his past work I think GP will definitely live up to our expectations (if not higher). In fact, lots of those concepts I wouldn't mind as GP, especially pic 010 in 2D/Character in the flash site (pic 11 in the non-flash site).

When I saw pic 16, I thought that was it. It fits. I also don't think he'd have an image of the actual monster on his site yet, but he could have a concept or two on there.

I'm amazed at how tight-lipped the film has managed to stay thus far. Something tells me Abrams is holding production employees' family members hostage until the release date.

I like number 8 and 24 on the flash site, in the 2D/Character category. Those look like BAMFs. Number 6 and 13 from the design maquettes look like BAMFs too. I can tell if he is designing it that its going to be one hell of a monster.

Some of those concepts have some serious Giger influences in them.

I thought the same thing when I saw them (11 and 16). It will probably be very close to them.

I highly doubt he's going to put up a concept of MGP, or anything close to it.
JJ would kill him.

I doubt he would have an actual pic of the monster up right now, but concept artists usually use the same style in their designs. When told by Tippett and JJ that they wanted a big-ass monster to trash NY, he could take some of his previous designs and combine one or two (or three) of them, or maybe tweek one of his favorites that he's allways wanted to get on screen.
Never said that one of these WAS the monster, just that some of them could be a "relative" of MGP.
If you look at Ralph McQuarrie's concept work they are of a similar style: Battlestar, Star Wars, ET.. all the same style. Conceptual artists draw what they know. McQuarrie's strength is spaceships/futuristic stuff. It appears Konig's thing is big, ugly monsters.
