 		I think, either Eric "killed" her with his deeds (not directly, like givin her an important document for moths and this document were cause of assasination).
Or John has got information from "informants" about Eric (which could be a lie).

in the ENIGMA simulator. I set the rotors to ODE and then tried every possible combination of rotor settings.

None of the output made any sense.

Could it be that we use the "standard enigma machine" meaning the DDR 543 setup and then use the word ODE or the word JOY to crack the output. Maybe the output is a keyword cipher with the keyword being ODE or JOY.

It would be nice if we split up the various codebreaking possibilities so that we can cover ground faster.

 		When I first started looking at this with enigma, that's a possibility I considered. I'm hoping this isn't the case though as it will take a lot of effort to check all possible cases. Plus, this doesn't use any of the other clues like the tarot cards.

 		I believe I've tried every combination of the following:
Rotors @ 1-4-2, 5-2-1 & 5-1-2 from windings and 'strength' tarot.
Starting letters @ ODE, JOY, EST (the first word in the unofficial European Union anthem, which is to the tune of Ode to Joy)

Either I have made some mistake, or we are missing something...

However apparently a rudimentary operation took place to remove parts of the skull as if to get access to the brain. We know for sure that its Lucy because of dental records and dna. Why would eric kill her?

Well i am not going to give up now, i will start looking and see what i can find.
This is a bad year, but we must find numbers in strength.

Scavenger birds is a pretty twisted way to get rid of a body though

This suggests that you need to break VIII into 3 numbers as was stated before, so we'd get some combination of 5, 2, 1. Now, we also had the comment about a bad year. This bothered me in that it couldn't have just been thrown in with the rest of the sentence being a hint. We'd had a year reference along with this set. What year just began? The year of the R-A-T!
