BEHEPA

Behepa is Venera!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venera
Quote:
The Venera (Russian: Венера) series of probes was developed by the USSR between 1961 and 1984 to gather data from Venus. As with some of the USSR's other planetary probes, the later versions were launched in pairs with a second vehicle being launched soon (a week or two) after the first of the pair.

Eight probes from the Venera series successfully landed on Venus and transmitted data from the surface (as well as one Vega program probe of similar design). In addition, three Venera probes successfully transmitted data from the atmosphere of Venus (along with two Vega balloon probes).

Among the other results, probes of the series became the first man-made devices to enter the atmosphere of another planet (Venera 4 on October 18, 1967), to make a soft landing on another planet (Venera 7 on December 15, 1970), to return images from the planetary surface (Venera 9 on June 8, 1975) and to perform high-resolution radar mapping studies of Venus (Venera 15 on June 2, 1983). So, the entire series could be considered as highly successful. Unfortunately, while Venus' orbit is closer to Earth than Mars, its surface conditions were far more extreme, which often meant that the probes did not survive long.

Venera is the Russian name for Venus.

Quote:
On October 18, 1967, Venera 4 became the first spacecraft to measure the atmosphere of another planet. While the Soviet Union initially claimed the craft reached the surface intact, re-analysis including atmospheric occultation data from the American Mariner 5 spacecraft that flew by Venus the day after its arrival demonstrated that Venus's surface pressure was 75-100 atmospheres, much higher than its 25 atm hull strength, and the claim was retracted.

Is this a medal from the infamous X? X = 10 = October 18-X-1967

Yori's dream

I haven't ventured over to the Yori thread, but has anyone analyzed the quote and the clock on her page?

It looks to be about Hiroshima.
Quote:
"A dragonfly flitted in front of me and stopped on a fence. I stood up, took my cap in my hands, and was about to catch the dragonfly when . . . . when there was a flash of white light in the blue sky above Hiroshima. This was at 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 6, 1945. Then followed a new kind of thunder and a new kind of hellfire. A minute later those who were still alive, those whose flesh was not falling off their bodies, blinked into a changed world, like a traveler waking and finding himself on a different planet. Through the glare of flames and the darkness of smoke, they saw that their city had vanished and been replaced by a blackened desert, empty of everything except fire, charcoal, corpses and the concrete skeletons of buildings".

Just had another little chat with John. Thanks us for keeping him up to date and asked about the book and stuff again as he could not view the scans for some reason. He seems to think the BBC contact is viable and safe and is off to see the doc again and have another brain scan in a day or so. Finally remembered to ask him about Rachel Silverman and the name didn't ring any bells with him and Yori didn't kick in, so it can't of triggered any of her latent memories, maybe try again in a day or so if any of us can catch him.

John says he sent email to the address and received an automated reply.

MrT - I would appreciate it if you do get a chance to put up higher res images later.

ETA:
Has anyone received a reply yet? I'll assume no.

btw John is logging on and off of gmail as we speak.

He says he got an automated message (as mentioned already).

He told me the message was this:
Quote:
i got an automated responce:

This is an automated message.

Since someone (anyone) is reading this message, it means that there is still time. Otherwise there wouldnt be a computer or the internet to read it from.

I have set up the account for anyone who wrote to this email to receive another automated message on February 26, 2008. In it will have instructions to find the second piece of the diary. It must be found and retrieved, I am sure Junker will also have people looking for it. So you must be the first one to find it, or at least someone you can trust.

Hopefully there is still time.
~Eric

Then John said, "I guess ill have to wait and see what we get soon. "

If I'm not mistaken...today is the 26th.

Yeah, 26th all day today if I'm not mistaken. Oh well, as long as we get the clue at some point. And something tells me you (MrT) may be on the hook for another pickup. Wink

Oh, and no underscores on gmail accounts, just letters, number, and periods.
