Season 2 Wave 2 (Cards only) Being Released
After all this time...

*blows dust off forum*

I haven't been here for ages, and it looks like no-one else has either. Oh well, here's some interesting news anyway.

Wave 2 is being released on Firebox.com tomorrow (11/11/08 ) for a special price: £20 per box of 36 packs. The codes won't work on the WLP site, but hey, they're puzzles, what more do you want?! Wink

Can't believe that after nearly 18 months this is happening (even in a bit of an...abstract(?) way)

Pardon my ignorance but all I can find on firebox is a poster and no cards.
Can someone help me out?

Well, I wasn't expecting to hear this announcement today as I had just about given up on seeing wave 2. Thanks for the update.

There is only a poster there at the moment, they should be appearing sometime today uk time (it's currently 9am).

I'm just hoping this is genuine and not some very cruel hoax.

Wow, just came on for my, probably less than monthly check, of the forums and didn't expect to see this... I just don't think I can justify spending any money on these cards... fine the puzzles are cool but my whole justification between purchasing the cards in the past were to support the game and now all I feel I'll be supporting is the "Moshi Monsters" project which, I don't really want to tbh. I know really its my loss but after the mess of S2W1 (I think I opened the cards and then they sat in the box after the announcement of Season 2 being shut down) I just don't think its worth it...

When I hear Perplex City is returning in its former glory, unlikely I know, then I'll probably regret not buying them, but for now... its a no go for me.

There is the argument that the puzzles and story and everything involved in the cards are better off seeing the light of day, rather than sitting in a warehouse. I completely understand your point of view, but I'm buying these puzzle cards because I loved Perplex City in the past, and I continue to love Perplex City now. I believe the designers of the cards, the writers, artists, and architects of perplex city -- The Builders, if you will -- would much prefer to see their work being enjoyed, displayed, and used.

If you wanted a good business reason to support, consider this: If Mind Candy sells a lot of cards now, it will show that there is still interest in the product, meaning it is a marketable identity, with continued market value (to put it in strictly business terms).

I don't mean to say you are completely wrong. I just think a really cool puzzle card is a really cool puzzle card.

I think I went a bit extreme on my post, I wasn't so much saying that I don't want to buy them now (far from it, I'd love to buy some of the cards) but they don't come as high on my priority list now, and as I also have less spare money then thats a combination meaning I won't be purchasing.

I'd love to see these card but I just can't justify the money on it at this moment in time... even though I know I'll regret it in the future.

I also see what you're saying about good sales = interest in perplex city but I've seen enough interviews now basically saying there isn't going to be a continuation of the ARG (officially "for the forseable future") but I can't see it happening tbh, and even if it does I can't see it coming back in the same guise, not as most of us remember it.

Extending that, if the cards are bought en masse now, it will show that it is a marketable identity, even without the ARG running alongside it. If that's the case, it makes more economic sense not to hire a new (or the old) writing team, and just leave that part out of it.
