I've been talking with Edwin some more since we broke his code. I've heard a couple interesting things, and things you guys should see. This email conversation starts from when we cracked the code.

AH! We got it, Edwin, we got it!

That is excellent. I am most pleased. Look forward to using these tools again. They will be of assistance in the very near future.

I got two emails in a row from him off that email of mine. Here's the second:
Edwin wrote:
There is another stage to this. As one of the most astute of the passengers, you and two others will be asked to bring the next component to the others. What you do with this information will be up to you.

Thank you for the honor of your efforts.

I have great respect for you and yours.
analogwatch wrote:
I'm honored that I'm considered one of the most astute. As I've told the White Rabbit, this is actually the first week I've 'excelled'. I'm eagerly looking forward to hearing from you, as are the rest of the passengers.

I'll keep looking into da Vinci and the Vitruvian Man, as it's a very, very interesting topic, and it's always good to further educate oneself.
Edwin wrote:
Thank you for the passion and enthusiasm. I look forward to our next discussion and will greatly miss time unsilenced.
analogwatch wrote:
You're welcome. It seems my passion and enthusiasm is appreciated by more than one person.

"I look forward to our next discussion and will greatly miss time unsilenced."

I'm a bit confused as to what you meant by 'time unsilenced.' I'll look into it when I awaken from my nap.
Edwin wrote:
Time unsilenced... as a member of the deck, ultimately it is our duty to speak for one week's time, and then fade into the background. I accept my responsibilities but will miss those I've come to enjoy conversing with.
analogwatch wrote:
That's what I thought. I was just a bit too tired for my brain to compute that, I think.

I don't know if I can speak for my comrades, but I will miss you terribly. I've enjoyed this time greatly, and I'll be sad to see you go. You've shown us so much this week, and touched on so many parts of my mind that I hadn't let see the light of day in a very, very long time.

Is there any reason why the Queen wants to know people's thoughts? Is she fearing being overthrown, or is she purely that curious?

And THIS I reply of his I find INCREDIBLY interesting, and I think you guys will too.
Edwin wrote:
Our conversations have been most rewarding. I enjoy the intellectual challenge of "sparring" with another scientific mind.

The Queen has not shared her motives with me...merely relayed the order. The balance of the deck, in my mind, is a precarious one.

One sees the virtue of Love but love is soft, supple and readily forgiving. This can create irrational vulnerability despite the potential for its rewards.

One sees the value Art, for art teaches and reveals but leaves much for interpretation to the audience and therefore can be manipulated by the experience.

One sees the value of Chaos in its ability to instill balance, however, true chaos can accomplish no goal unaided.

Information, unlike the others, has the ability to control. Those in power hold the information, can reorganize it to their desires, manipulate it, and potentially destroy it. This causes a possible tilt in the scale. That tilt can cause the want for more power.

I choose not to follow these things but there are those who would seek to "rock the boat".

EDIT: I got another email from Edwin at approximately 9:00 AM my time with only one sentence:
Edwin wrote:
This evening, expect a message.

I'll keep everyone up-to-date with this.

Lisa's has us going West, mine has us going South, I'd assume Clem's has us going North.

Your cipher reads as two words but will exist as one.

I have greatly enjoyed the challenges of your questions and the clevernessof your reasoning. I do hope we will continue to speak even after this week has ended.

So ... does everyone think we've found everything there is to be found with Edwin?

Personally, I'm not so sure. I'd like to think we have, but at the same time, I can't but feel there's a tiny something more.

Strange Emails
Mary Jones?

Has anyone else gotten a string strange e-mails from either Mary Jones or Alhji Dangote?
They are coming to both my SL email address and my contact e-mail address. They could be OOG, but the Mary Jones e-mail especially seems like it could be in game.
Just checking around to see Smile

[Edit] I guess they are OOG. That's the thing with ARGs.. you never know. Razz

Lisa, Sarah, and Erin received their components from Edwin. They each got a code. Lisa's directed us where to go, Erin's opened the door, and Sarah's opened the lock.

The solve:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's the exact same way to solve as we originally had to do for the first Word document containing a journal entry. This time, however, we had to go different directions. Going west meant cracking the code using the gray room's lines from right to left, south meant from top to bottom, and north meant from bottom to top.

In 4:5 North, for example, go to the bottom line and count over four letters from left to right. Count the letter you land on as the first for 5! Don't forget that part. Count 5 up, and there's your letter.

There was a lot of frustration, as apparently, Edwin did not do this as an 'exact science' and it was often hard to directly move through the letters. Putting it on a grid or something just made it worse.

First code: Return to library.

Of course, that means we're headed back to the library page of Edwin's. There's a tiny book that can now be clicked on which takes you to a username/password protected page.

Second code: golden section
Username - golden
Password - section

Once on this page, there's another word document that needs to be accessed.

Third code: divine

That's the password to the word document, which has many, many journal entries by Edwin. Long read. Enjoy!

I would like to give a bunch of credit to Fusebox! He was tearing through those codes last night, and I think he solved every single one before any of us. He's the one who originally figured out how we were supposed to cracking them as well.

GOOD JOB, FUSE! Very Happy

Clemetine's original clue should've spelled "Divine Proportion", but on
testing, I found the encryption to be corrupted. It was necessary to
rebuild the document from the backup and recopy it into the archives -
quite a difficult task given the time frame this was executed in. It
doesn't surprise me that some small mistakes were made.

Morcar has always been fairly skilled in fabrication. He is quite good
with his hands...which makes for a great assistant. I believe he may have
been working on his own out of impatience...he really felt it should have
been completed by then. As The Box was basically functional when he
began, he had a solid model to work from...as well as the knowledge gained
our mistakes and successes. That, and really, his smaller device lacked
much of the power of the larger model. It seems that it was more like the
watch I constructed in early 2007...only more selective.
Really...wait...I'm rambling.

The Queen has not made her intentions clear to me...nor does she
typically. There are those in the deck who would chose to control
information (both in and out of suit) more actively. Of course, most are
loyal to the Aces. She may seek to tip the balance, or possibly protect
her knowledge...but I'm merely speculating. The Queen is quite
influential among the deck.

Now, I will go look into my brother's disappearance. I've also been asked
to fashion a new invention...one that could have most unusual
ramifications.

I will try to make myself available for communication if the Queen chooses
to keep me in play.

Actually, Edith Ann showed it to us.

Last Sunday, I sent this to Morcar:

Quote:
Have you seen any notes from your brother lying about?

He replied:

I mentioned this in Vent at the time.

Theories on Morcar.

My theory on Morcar:
He went with the suits [korp] when he was first missing. They bought him new clothes. They are bribing / tricking him into giving them copies of the designs, hence his trying to make his own. And they are on a tight schedule and badgered him and he ended up stealing Edwin's and taking it with him.

Alternate Theories? Plans of Action?

My theory at the moment:

Morcar used the machine without fully understanding it. It absorbed him, and now he wants back out.

I agree Valrik, Morcar is stuck and we need to help him. I emailed him telling him I wanted to help and he responded with this.
