Could be, but why would they blur out what is just another ship? You couldn't make out any hull markings or nationality from that distance. Doesn't make sense. But then again, half of this doesn't!
Is the whole ship blurred? I see 3 pixillations, maybe there is something in the sky, aircraft or "secret" military equipment?

They blurred out the monster's hand/claws/arm. You see the claw marks don't you? I don' tknow what's underneath the ship that must be blurred out but my assumption based off the blurred out arm/claw/hand of the the monster is that it's just more monster.
But why would they have blurred it out? What purpose does that serve?

on a movie front- they don't want to give away any hints of the monster.
On a governmental front- They don't want the general public to know what did that.

So what did they/are going to tell the "general public" completely destroyed New York?

They don't want the general public to know what did that out of fear of a massive panic. Just like any monster/sci-fi movie- the Government wants to keep this thing under wraps. And just like any monster/sci-fi movie; it blows up in their face. Typical monster/sci-fi movie stuff.

the 'ship' that's blurred out (and I think it is one) has a marking to the far right. Looks like a P with a blue circle around it.
Perhaps that's why they're blurring it out? They don't want anyone to know who's watching it all go down?

the only reason why i think the blur is an apendage of the monster is because of the claw marks. We are intentionally supposed to see the claw marks that lead down to the blurred out portion.

Or is that a symbol, read cursor, from the program allowing the ship to be brought forward in the picture?
Edit: Never mind, I see it in the other pictures too

I just see the bottom of the ship and the left side (if you're standing on the ship) blurred-out.

Iran.
carnus - good point about the lack of name. Do military ships have their names on them?

Military ships have their name / desgination on them.
The blur is not an oil slick, witht he ship down that much there would be a larger oil slick.
Evidence CAN be blurred out, if your not high enough clearance and it if not relvent to the case. IE fact ship is destroyed. Name of ship does not matter.
Image on right is a ship or famous landmark but NOT SOL.
There are several blured out spots on the bottom left, not just 1 big one. It's like they only wanted to blur out certain things and took the time to do that (verses 1 big blur). SO they didn't care if the claw marks were seen, they could have easly blured out a larger spot that covered them (or they goofed and missed the claw marks).
Phot is of a ship sinking, not clue on how fast/slow it went down who says it is just stitting there.

And hey, don't forget UFO cases in reality. A lot of government documents about UFOs that are accessible to the public are largely blacked out. What's more detrimental to the public and the government? A giant sea monster, or aliens?
Also, I'm amazed at the people who are wondering why the ship would still be afloat for whatever reason. Wow. Hello? The Titanic split in half and it still took about three hours for both pieces to sink. Methinks some people here have no idea what they're talking about.

Don't you know, silly? When a ship sinks, it just plops under water in an instant!
