I saw this on TV this morning as well. just to confirm, this is indeed the Chicago city skyline.

I hope it is not an advertisement for the Field Museum or something - North Chamber of King Tut or something.

Edited:
A "goplastic" on another forum put up an interesting link on e-bay - a bunch of DVDs for sale with the chamber phrase on the bottom.

Edited:
I think someone is playing off the ad to get people to look at their ebay stuff.

I think we can disregard the eBay hint, since the person who put up that bid registered in February of '07. Either it's just someone capitalizing on the commercials, or this thing has been in production for a very long time.

You are probably right. He is selling another item "DVD WRESTLING LOT" and then asks for "SERIOUS BIDS."--He must be joking.

I agree with this - here is a link where you can see a photo of Millenium Park right in front of the One Prudential Building (and the one with the 2 triangles). Scroll down to picture labled: East Entrance to the BP Bridge

It's awfull cold in Chicago in February though, so I don't think it would be an outdoor event - there is a bandshell there (Chamber?).

Calypso, can you tell us what station you were watching, as well as the program? I'm just wondering if this was a local commercial shown to a certain city, state, etc...

I am 95% sure that I know what this viral ad is for. Just around this time last year, there was another viral ad campaign in Chicago with a very similar look that ended up being for a contest and special promotion by General Motors for the Chicago Auto Show, and it looks like their doing it again.

"In the General's north chamber, the future will be revealed".

General = General Motors

North Chamber = likely refers to the location of the GM booth in the McCormick center where the Auto Show is held.

Future will be revealed = probably showing a new model line or special prototype

So yeah, there you go...[/b]

Very good! - I think you are right.
Maybe something good will come from giving out our e-mails; once I gave my e-mail to buick at the car show and they sent me free tickets to the western open golf, free food and drink tickets and a free buick to drive to the event (from a designated location).

This looks interestign enough for me to toss my hat into, so TOSS!

Well, if it's just a seller commercial, he's cool! I mean, viral marketing of privat ebay shops in THAT quality!

You know, it could be for the auto show. I had the feeling they were selling some kind of real estate or something local. The whole quality didn't seem that "big" to me.

I'm not sure why in the video the woman seems kind of frantic as if she is in danger and talks about being warned to leave it alone. That sends out an odd vibe to me, as if the product they are selling is menacing the city. And, if it is just selling cars, would she really be that freaked out about it?

Is that >> symbol, or whatever it is, a logo of General Motors of some kind?

GM display expands in Chicago: General Motors has increased its Chicago footprint by an additional 22,000 sq. ft., totaling approximately 186,000 sq. ft. The Chicago Auto Show currently utilizes 1.3 million sq. ft. of "Class A" space with full 40-foot-tall ceilings -- and all on the same floor. The new GM display will bring all of the General's brands together in the North Hall of McCormick Place.

from Chicago suntimes article

I didn't know that General Motors was called the General before. So I guess I learned something from this exercise. Smile

I'm not sure what future they are going to unveil there. It doesn't sound like they have a new car that hasn't been shown elsewhere already.

Maybe the >> marks are just the signage they will use to direct people to their exhibit. Wink

The >> marks are pointing toward the McCormick center.

Also, I think the "future" car they are going to unveil there might be a Hybrid Escalade, as it is listed as being in the show. Maybe some other energy efficient car as they are being pushed to produce them.
