Quite the opposite. The site itself is OOG, used IG. The information that the DoD department who have the tape is the R&D people, and that they obscured the info (but goofed at the end)? Very IG.

Who has MGP now? DARPA

Site is oog, but I'd say since the DoD has Rob's recording, it's conceivable they're involved in the game world. What's interesting is that it's the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Were they behind Darwin? Wink

anyone think that the numbers on the bulletin board on TIDO's website might be something?

the tag fun facts: 42, 33 & 18.

42 has been thrown around here as a possible clue same with 6...and 3+3 is 6...thank god for gr.1 math...

 		date discrepency suggestion
The date 1-18-08 could refer to the date on which the case began, the day they closed down the tidowave website(when they suspected tidowave of being responsible for the attack on chuai station). They then continued their investigation, and later included the attack on new york in march because it was related. Alternately, 1-18-08 out of game is the release date of the movie but in game it's the case number for the investigation! Kinda reaching on that second one but I'm just saying the date on the pics doesn't necessarily have to be the day on which they were taken or found.

On a more important note:

 		Bah, you know what I meant. My phone will record 30 second clips but can download full movies onto the memory card, but it's a huge pain in the ass and it can't get movies that haven't come out on dvd yet. Thought someone had found a copy floating around the internet.

 		First post. going to collect the facts I've found, let me know what you've already covered and what you found. This will probably sound a bit jumbled up, i'm writing it as Im thinking it. first off juggalo_kyle perhaps the date on the camera simply wasn't set correctly. the pictures on http://www.1-18-08.com/ clearly show Rob hawkins drinking with the "we will miss you" banner from his party on the night of the attack the picture is labelled 1-18-2008 12:01 this could be the real date of the attack, however the last date that the main characters all logged in to myspace was the 19-1-08 which would mean that it would be impossible for the picture of rob to have been taken on the 18-1-08 on the same website there is also a picture of Hud with a blonde girl on the left and another guy on his right there is a mug in the screen and above the blonde woman there is the part of the LCD screen from the camera that HUD is holding (I believe this due to the letters "HD" on it. this shows that those pictures are definitely of that night. It is odd that the date was written mm/dd/yy instead of the normal dd/mm/yy. I do think there is something in the fact that they all last logged in t myspace on the 19-1-08.

In the opening section there is also a split second where the black box is removed from the writting at the bottom of the screen. at exactly 1:23:21 on the DVD.
the code there reads:
DARPA 05260 Badge of some 00 :18 :39 :01
DIA 00 :09 : 10 : 17 Kind A0307750 .00

The DARPA stands for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
The DIA stands for Defense Intelligence agency

there is an attempt the cover up this code so i think it may have some significance?

I am interested in finding out the date though of the attack though. my guess would be on the 19-1-08 because of the last loggin date stuff and HUD also leaves a comment asking Rob to come round:

hey man. do you have any like, plans for tonight? cuz I was thinking of watching the complete 7th season of buffy, if you're in

this could either be a false call to get him to come to the surprise party or it could prove my theory of the 19-1-08 wrong. I want some more proof that it took place on those dates.

another thing, if the camera reads "MAY 22" on the night of the attack and that date is actually january 19th that means that the first piece of footage was not April 27th it was actually 25th of december, christmas day if my calculations are correct. could someone double check that please.

Reposting what I put in several thread on this, with some edits:

The day of the attack and of Rob and Beth's date are both given explicitely in the movie as May 23 and April 23 respectively, so those date are inviolate as IG. Those dates don't occur on the days of the week specified Friday May 22 into Sat May 23rd for the attack) until 2009. That gives us the exact date of the attack. They wouldn't have started thier investigation 16 months before the attack.

Station was destryed about a month before the attack. Ignore the OOG-RW dates and move them 16 months forward to find the IG dates.

Sat May 23, 2009 was the attack (and the last Myspace updates and the last J&T video. (It's not like they could kindy ask Myspace to change thier code to allow the character's posts to be in May 2009... ). Only the autostamps list the dates, the characters don't mention them. Closest is 'the middle of the month"

The simplest way to think about it is the above, May 23 2009 was the attack, and everything in game happened relative to that in real time, so figure it back from the dates given in the movie and it all works (and the seasons for the pics/movie etc all match up again like magic). You just have to train yourself to ignore any date they printed during the game, knowing the IG date is different, the date is only given to us for our RL reference.

Jan 18 2008 was our RL date that corresponds to the timing of the attack, which happened In Game on May 23 2009.
