Imagine the myspaces like this....they CAN'T change the dates on the pages. So they decided, forget it, we'll still do the myspace pages. Just imagine the myspaces pages leading up to May, not January and it makes sense. It's impossible to change the dates on the myspace pages, so that's why the dates are in todays world...but they really are leading up to MAY.

Then you have the Tagruato and TIDOwave sites......someone else want to explain this one?

You CAN change Myspace Blog Dates...

It's not just the myspace pages, TIDO and TAG are dated too.

It's simply a matter of numbers. The ARE works best in real time, if they had postdated everything it would be confusing to people. Plus it would cost time, money and effort. All of which would not get any more people interested in the ARE or into the theater. So then it comes down to will the date discrepancies cost anything? Would the people following the ARE not see the film because of it? Well considering they won't find out till a week before the film comes out, by which time they are hooked but good, then no.
They aren't going to spend money to make this perfect, it's not Lord of the Rings.

Well, and a pretty funny one, eh? :D

I just can't understand a single reason why wouldn't they make the movie event take place in January, indeed. The cold weather? Duh. That can't be the case. It would just be so much easier and better for everything if the movie took place this week.

Oh, besides, in Russia (where I am from) the premiere day is Thursday, January 17th :) I know the same takes place in NZ and Australia. Pretty sick, to be honest. The idea seems to be falling apart.

Sorry if this is stated through out the four pages.
But can someone explain how we know the events of the party/monster attack take place in may?
EDIT: And the nuke...
Thanks in advance

From the many reviews of people that have seen early screenings.

People are forgetting the flashback video when it comes to the weather.
The flashback video is exactly one month before and there are probably parts that take place outdoors and it's a beautiful sunny spring day.
OF Course if they had made they date of the flashback 3 or 6 months prior they could have used the January date even with the weather in the film.

Stated by people who have supposedly seen the movie already.

I know, I know, I'd say it's all fraud and they were lying! But I somehow remember there was an interview with JJ or Matt, where one of them said that the events really do not take place in January. Maybe somebody can help with finding that interview again?

How many have said it takes place in may? Or theres a nuke?

It just doesn't add up. I love your theory and it would be cool. But it just doesn't work. Like stated earlier, TAG opened Chuai(sorry if misspelled) in September of '07. Which means it couldn't have taken place in May.

Unless, They opened it after the attack.

I'm just pulling straws. But I think the events of the movie take place this Friday.

Well, there's 4 or 5 people on this board that SWEAR they've seen the movie, (even though in an interview yesterday, Reeves says there have been NO advanced screenings) and they all agree on the May thing. I only saw two of them mention a nuke, but one of the latest TV commercials hints at that.

If there was no screening, and these people are screwing with us, think they'll come back for their horse-whipping on Wednesday?

Thats what I'm trying to say. ANYONE can say the movie takes place in May. The person probably made it up and other accounts to agree with his actions. The only way I'll believe that this movie takes place in May is if Dennis of CloverfieldClues told me himself. Until I watch the midnight premier of the movie I'm not buying it.

Four days and we find out for sure...

Until then, just chill out, kick back, drink a beer, go to sleep, wake up, go to work, repeat, and enjoy until Friday night Smile

If not... I can unleash "angry Helo" again.

Just read a couple of posts above yours, there was a link posted that leads to an interview with Matt Reeves. He is clearly stating that the movie does not take place on January 18th, there is even a special question for that, just scroll down on the invterview page. I know, I'm saddened by that as well :/

Anyway it's going to be killer just as a movie itself. I've been watching the trailers SO many times, the atmosphere is insanely intense.
