[SPEC]The backstory First contact with the monster. I feel like I'm stating the obvious here, but here's some random thoughts on the story, and why it won't be continuing.
The whole story told by the ARE/Viral Marketing is about the doomed Chuai station, the place where the monster rose to the surface for the very first time, and came into contact with humans for the first time.
Excluding the MySpace activity of the stars, which is there for obvious reasons, all the information we've learned relates to Chuai.
We have the owners of Chuai, the workers of Chuai, the opponents of Chuai, the potential products of Chuai, the destruction of Chuai, and the aftermath of Chuai.
Seabed's nectar is a device to link an outpost in the middle of the sea with Slusho, and the characters of the film.
Jamie is used as a device to link an outpost in the middle of the sea with Slusho, and the characters of the film.
The Chuai platform may have woken the monster, or it may have just been its first unlucky victim, we'll probably never know.
Now that Chuai has sunk, Jamie has given up on Teddy, Teddy is presumed deady, TidoWave is in disarray, it feels like the backstory is pretty much over to me.
This is all easy to say in hindsight though, and I would happily be proved wrong if there's lots more to come.

Excellent assessment. For those of you who may hope upon hopes that this Viral Campaign will continue on to answer all questions, don't see it happening. I'm lookin for the new Trek ARG to start(and you know there will be one.)
In the immortal words of Bill Paxton in Aliens....
"Game over man!!!!!!
.....game over!"
It's been fun.
Peace out latta.

Even though I'm sure you're both correct, I was looking forward to
"TidoWave - The next Generation"
All shot super-wobbly-cam with Edward Hanssen Jr fighting the evil Tagruato Corporation (Now based on a deserted island?)
That nectar's mighty potent stuff.
No? Oh well...

Someone said this before but i think its a good idea:
the sequal could be a documentary style about the distruction of the chuai station, NYC.
With interviews with Tagruato staff, people effected etc etc. Maybe cctv footage of the chuai station goin down or cctv footage of places around New York at the time of the attack with footage of the monster
and finally....an explanation of the monsters origins (after research)obviously

This whole extra layering of a story screams sequel or even trilogy. Any movie that only costs $30 million and makes (possibly) $100 million is going to get the green light faster than you can drive home after going through the Taco Bell drive-Thru.

Re: [SPEC]The backstory First contact with the monster. Yep, that's pretty much what I think too. I'd be happy if the story continued, but I'm ok if it ends here. Good post!

It'll be over for me in a couple of days when you chaps in the US have all seen it and I have to wait til the 1st of bloody Feb!
This forum will be a no-go area for we Brits because it'll be (for us, at least) spoiler-central.
Come to think of it, how's Mikeyj (From Liverpool, UK) going to mod without finding out all the good bits before seeing the movie?

I'm in the UK too, I will try to stay away from here, although I've spoiled myself on a few things already.

That would be one of the most boring movies ever, especially when it's compared to Cloverfield.

The monster is Isiah Thomas on 'roids. He took them to try to make a comeback so he could try to lift the knicks out of being a horrible team. The fans lashing out at him with the Fire Isiah chants and merchandise pushed him over the edge and he is now rampaging through the city.

So the whole thing is just a sexual harassment rampage?

Some random thoughts If, and I say that loosely, if this is an ARG, what if it purports that Godzilla was real in this reality. If that is the case, then would it not be safe to assume, given current data, that Tagruato might be trying to manifest a giant monster of their own to rampage New York, instead of Tokyo.
I don't know. Just a thought. If, say for instance, Ganu's family or some of them died in the Godzilla attacks. Maybe he sees it as an out for America. I mean, if we created Godzilla because of attacks, who's to say they didn't want to create something on our soil, under similar circumstances? JJ did say he wanted us to have our own Godzilla.
A tie-in?
