Are we sure it's MGP at the end and not the giant squid from the beginning? The anchor lines are visible with the squid

In the next to last tanker panel it's obvious there is a whole line of ships dragging this thing together. It must be MGP when it was just "born" or found.
Ganu is one big maniac with one serious grudge against the world and he is looking for revenge. It's also pretty clear the story of Noriko from the Slusho! site is a load of bunk.

Beware New York, Kishin and his kawaii pyschic pet have come to free you from your complicated lives! Well, free you with death.

In all seriousness, this would be a great way to delve a lil more directly into a possible origin story for the monster and possible preceding events themselves, with all the characters as suspicious allegories for people like Ganu and the real monster without outright coming out and saying "THERES A HUGE FRICKING MONSTER IN THE SEA!!" in the ARG.

I really can't believe I didn't think of a manga before...it's perfect, and so sneaky.

Who knows what this is truly supposed to be but it's the first real part of the viral marketing to catch my attention since the Slusho site (sadly).

I didn't read the thread, but at our showing tonight, they held a raffle that gave the winners comic books, but they looked like Spiderman comics.

At this point I am more interested in the Manga then the movie.
It's begging to look like the Manga is better.

I have a 14 year old daughter who I have been talking to about the ARE, etc to see if she would get instersted and want to see the film with me.
She could care less but I showed her this Manga and she LOVED it!

I'm wracking my brain because I'm sure I'd seen "kishin" in relationship to this before. I did a search on here and can't find it, and the wiki...
Just strikes me that it could have been pointed to obliquely and we've missed it.

Anyway, interesting that they are doing this. Reminds me of how the AniMatrix was used to expand the universe and explain more of the story behind The Matrix.

Please don't ever mention the Matrix. As far as I'm concerned there was only the first film and that's it. The rest was complete garbage.

If Lost is unfortunately any indication, probably not.

I think the ARG is going to be the closest people will get to the whole picture, not to say I think we'll get all of it.

JJ hates information too much to give us the satisfaction.

(Fun fact: He's controlling the monster from a deserted island)

To make it more authentic.

This is all supposed to be "real", remember?

I don't think it's that. I just think he's incapable of bringing a work to a satisfying conclusion. And while at times it is an appropriate story-telling technique to leave unanswered questions or mysterious, vague endings—which can be very effective, if used correctly—he simply lacks the skill of doing it in an appropriate manner. See: Alias, Lost, etc., etc.

The Lost Experience did have an end, a fact for which I am immeasurably grateful.

I'm inclined to agree with this.

Not to say I don't think he's talented at times but he has a very tricky way of pulling in an audience he won't be able to satisfy in the end.

The frustrating part is you get the feeling thats kind of the point for him, that questions are more important than the actual story.

That is exactly his M.O., and exactly what I warned people of six months ago, when this ARG was first getting started. Oh, sure, he's good at setting up something that looks interesting, and (at least for a little while), it is interesting. And then, it starts to kind of plod on for a length of time. You start to wonder if the first questions you asked are going to be answered. Time passes, and you wake up one day to realize that the mysterious story with the incredibly interesting hook has turned into a big pile of suck.
