Ok this forum is getting out of hand now.

Seriously SomethingTerrible-AlsoTer, you joined yesterday, and you have 85 freakin posts..... Bang Head Most of your posts dont even include anything relevent....either that or you're calling people poo-poo heads.

It seems we've gone in reverse here. We went from actively trying to solve an ARE, to watching a clusterfuck develop.

Amen... I was noticing this myself. I thought, "man... what happened to the nice, friendly, PRODUCTIVE forum we used to have?"

Now it seems like its 90% Flame wars and 10% trying to figure things out.

Lambo, im just at a loss for words. Sad What happened to our nice, devoted, sleuthing community we had since the summer? It seems we'll have to wait for all the roar to die down from the opening week before we lose all the crazies.

No! Don't go out there alone! It's too dangerous! Take this!

*Shadowfury has recieved anti-flame shield*

Please be careful out there!

*EDIT* Shadow, seeing as you are like, the only serious forumer that has posted after i posted my picture... do you think the pose i drew it in looks accurate for that final scene?

Lambo-- Sorry I'm not a long time forumer, but I hope I can comment on the picture...

While I don't think the trunk idea is right (thought plausible), I do agree with the stance of the monster. He might not be THAT erect in his stance, but he's definitely not as flat as we see him in the helicopter scene. Also, I'm still of the persuasion that the back legs of the monster might be a little bit shorter than you drew them; he has very solid-looking feet, and they seem to be attached to very solid, stumpy legs, which-- I feel --would better explain his long forearms.

All in all, though, good stance, and good job noticing he's not as flat as usual in that scene.

WOW! A civilized post amidst the mass flamage! You gave me some new hope for the human race. Very Happy

Thanks for the compliments though. About the back legs, looking at the drawing again, I do think they are a little too long, and I kinda made it look like he was standing on his toes. My visualization of the back feet came from the scene where he stops on the tank, it looks much more like a Godzilla foot than the lanky front arms.

As for the peoplesuckers, I'm almost positive thats what they look like. I watched a clip over and over again, and it LOOKS like its a long flexable and stretchable tube that comes out. Granted, I used some creative license with the square-ish shape and teeth, I have yet to see anyone draw them in a similar fashion.

*EDIT* Also, be on the lookout for more renditions of this pose from me, I plan on redrawing it soon. Besides, this version was a fairly quick sketch so I could at least get my ideas down on paper. Another thing, the front arms may look a little goofy because I didnt give them enough depth, they need to appear as though they come forward more to balance himself.

*EDIT #2* Im surprised you didnt comment on the little Hud i drew in there. Razz

Yeah... I'm trying to be civilized because I'm actually interested in unlocking this mystery, and some of the best information and speculation on the 'net is coming off this site. Of course... there's also the Lost 'genie' theory... but let's ignore that.

Anyways, I looked at the back legs again, and yeah, I see what you're saying. I agree that the foot looked much more zilla-ish, but that's also what made me think of the leg as being much more stocky. Also, MGP's stance in general (from all footage) makes me think that his rear legs are more like that of a great ape. At the same time, if you're going with the sea-theory, stubby back legs make sense as well, since MGP is most likely using the motion of his body and tail to swim rather than any of his limbs (in fact, I'm guessing his front legs would sort of fold-up when he swam)

This also brings me to a theory about the suckers; like a lot of marine life, I think it's more likely that they're smaller flippers that help him move through the water. I know I've said this before, and I don't want to beat a dead horse with a giant monster, but the small limbs being suckers or people-swallowers just seems far too far-fetched for me. In my mind, it might push MGP into the realm of campy.

Also, I did like the little Hud. Part of me feels sorry he bought it, but at the same time, as it's been said, if you're gonna die in a monster movie, the best way is to be eaten by the monster itself.

one reason i drew the legs as long as i did... they actually look fairly long as the camera pans up the monster. If you can find a video that Paramount hasnt snagged on youtube, watch it over, and look VERY CAREFULLY for the leg shape... imma take a screenshot and outline the leg real quick.

*laugh* sounds good. I believe you; I've only seen it twice in the theater, so though I noticed a lot more the second time around, it's probably closer to the way you hardcores are seeing it. I guess I've just got a problem with believing in the 'people-suckers', due to the fact that I feel the majority of that speculation stems from that post on the debunking blog and not actual studio/Hasbro statements. I think the idea was planted in people's minds, and now people are seeing it because they want to see it.

...that sounds far more malicious than I mean it to.

Oh, I like the profile pic - the one thing that struck me about the monster is that his profile seems a lot like a deep sea angler fish, where the lower jaw is very bulky - but the double jointed jaw theory is interesting. Much like a snake could unhinge its jaw... sorta.

The way its mouth opens is intriguing - I've been having a few friendly debates with a friend over why its physiology is the way it is. The tail seems strange, as if it were naturally aquatic I would think it would have more appendages (fins, etc) adapted to moving in the water. Instead he seems to have a simian-style gait and a strange additional tail that seems to have something at the end. I guess if he swims, he swims like an eel. That would be an interesting image - people's takes on how MGP swims :3

(though we also guessed if he did live aquatically, he'd be a bottom feeder, using the belly suckers to dig fish out of the dirt... then we got into a huge mess over whether he was amphibian and if he was cold blooded...)

Wow. Lambo, I think you're right about the legs being a lot lankier than I realized. Still, the sucker resembles a flipper to me yet. Could be that fanart of the whale-ish version of MGP, but the sucker theory just doesn't strike me as workable. Yet. We'll see, though; sleuthing like this definitely helps paint a better picture.

Slusho Addict did an amazing job with that drawing. You are very talented my friend! I hope you did not mind that I edited it so his mouth was open? Here is one with some color.

Quick comment here:

I was looking more at this picture:

http://cloverfield.despoiler.org/images/e/e6/Monster3.jpg

and I don't see the second mouth yet; I think people are mistaking it for its fairly bony sternum. I guess it does look like a mouth, but it would be a vertical mouth if it was one, and that makes absolutely no physical sense; MGP needs his darn sternum...

Look at my drawing, he has two unidentifiable shapes that come out from the dead center of his chest... i'll grab another screenshot of that.
