Origin of the Monster
Old Tagruato Headline

go ahead and trout me, but this seems to have been forgotten/ignored.

This article hints that the monster may have alien origins.

This clue seemed to be ignored or dismissed a while back.

"Tagruato used the Hatsui satellite to try to identify a rogue piece that is thought to have fallen off of the Japanese Government's "ChimpanzIII" satellite. Although Hatsui's work has not yet been able to confirm the identity of the fallen piece, Tagruato scientists and engineers are busily trying to track and recover the fragment. According to Hatsui data, it disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean late last week."

This connects the dots as to why there was so much activity at Chuai Station prior to its destruction. They never mentioned anything of it after this article.
-Something fell into the Atlantic
-Tagruato sent people to the Atlantic to investigate
-Soon after Chuai station destroyed by something.

It appears to be obvious. The monster is an alien

Or it is a deep-sea creature that was aroused by the impact of the satellite fragment or the subsequent search . . .

I'm fairly confident that we will know in time, however I don't think it will be until the people in Cloverfield's Universe start investigating what went on.

What I would hope for is that Tag and/or Tidowave release statements detailing the past month's events.

I think the ARG for this may go on through the next two weeks or so.

I hope

Hmm I thought one of JJ Abrams' quotes said that the monster had been under the ocean for thousands of years.

This would rule out alien origin in my mind.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Actually that made me feel to the contrary that it is an alien. Nothing that big or that looks remotely like that has ever existed on earth. That would make me think of some incident 1000s of years ago they may use as a reference point of the aliens arrival, a meteor crash or some siesmic event, volcano, something that caused a tsunami. Alien would be more likely scenario of being something that could be dormant that long and awaken maybe by something Tagruato did or maybe something like radiation from the fallen piece of satellite. If it were an earth creature and it came from the bottom of the ocean it would look more "nautical" I think and would have evolved over millions of years. Who knows. Speculating is fun though.
