[SPEC][THEORY] Jamieandteddy.com really for another movie?
JJ Abrams Movie ARG?

Coming out of Video 10... here are my thoughts on the whole jamieandteddy.com's true meaning...

it has nothing to do with Cloverfield.
This isn't a Cloverfield ARG, its a JJ abrams ARG with Cloverfield being a part of the broader story.

All this tells me is what i thought of long ago and that is JJ abrams is trying to make a true continuous ARG. I see a Slusho movie in the future that deals with the effects of the DSN. Imagine if everyone started turning into the evil bitch that Jamie is turning into... Thats a movie in itself. I feel that JJ is going to have many movies with Tagaruto Corp. involved, even in a small role such as Cloverfield. Seeing Slusho on Heroes tells me that we might see Tagaruto in LOST. What JJ is doing is setting up a bunch of fake businesses to use them in future projects so that his movies become an ARE within itself ultimately this arg will go on as long as JJ wants it to.

Anyone agree?

Its not like it hasn't been done before.... Stephen King uses the same Characters in multiple books, as well as the same towns. If you read alot of his books you can catch these characters from book to book with the same names and all.

Also on a Slusho movie... its not like that hasn't been done before. Need i say anything about Soylent Green or The Stuff?

I say base it on what looks like they put time and money into. In this case the only thing really is Slusho! The Jamie vids are just crap, even for just home movies.

Will there be a Slusho! movie, I don't think so. I think Abrams is trying to develop that into a kind of icon people will want to buy, especially on clothing, etc. Enough free advertising, in his own movies, and you will create a market for anything.

who knows maybe. the stephen king comparison makes a pretty good case but right now im guessing its just relatively pointless backstory. i gotta see the movie before deciding.

how many posts before someone calls out soylent green is people? (not including mine) haha

Slusho is only to sell T-shirts and enhance the movie experience.

I like what you speculate about. A Tagruato "universe". It isn't gonna happen but I like the idea.

I think JJ Abrams might be trying to create his own "Abrams" brand by throwing little things in the background. For us old fogies, the Zucker/Abrams/Zucker production team (the Abrams in the trio has no relation to JJ Abrams), who were responsible for the classic Airplane! and Naked Gun movies always had little background things going on that were often funnier than what was happening in the foreground.

The difference is that the Zucker/Abrams/Zucker trio didn't have a nerd/geek following.

Now while what I say might be deemed as one of my usual nerd attacks, it isn't, so hear me out: Nerds/geeks tend to over analyze stuff to he point of inanity. The nerds/geeks on this board successfully turned the Cloverfield marketing campaign into an ARG even though one doesn't exist. JJ Abrams, being that he is a pretty smart guy, probably sees that and knows that he can take little things and make them profitable.

I think, Jamieandteddy.com contents aren't belong to us don't belong to any movie. It's just a project of JJ Abrams, perhaps he's trying out new possibilities of entertainment (which he've used already with "Lost Experience").

This is a parallel story with Cloverfield (I think in the same fictional time, because of the whole Jamies communications on MySpace about Teddy etc.)

And this is cool, because this new method means new era of entertainment: if the movies you've seen are always the same (naturally), and you can see it multiple times, the ARE is really unique and is continuously developing.

I hope, this Cloverfield case will give to producers more courage to support financially such projects, because it's really inspirating and it's REALLY an entertainment.

And for those of you who say you guys aren't following the ARG anymore, blah blah, deep down inside you guys all know
all it takes for you to get back is JJ throwing the fans a couple good videos, some nice info, backstory, and a good juicy bone; and we have a launch fellas.

I said a little while back that I would at all be surprised if the corporation that is trying to take over the island (the one Naomi worked for) could very well be Tag

They also had their peak twenty to thirty years ago, when the Internet didn't exist in the form that it does now.

Ahhh Southside, welcome and have a poke around the rest of unforum. Very Happy There are some excellent bits and pieces about that will fire your imagination and ruin your sleep forever. Plus you can check out the wikipedia article (which has some inaccuracies, but is basically OK and also has some handy links - oh look! There's one to us!) It has lots of lovely refs too.

Interesting supposition given the continuing WGA strike (Writer's Guild). I suspect that we might see more and more internet delivery for entertainment from these writers seeking gainful employment that doesn't cross the picket lines. An already existing example can be found in www.funnyordie.com (from Will Farrell et al). Wouldn't be surprised if we have more content ala Loneygirl15 (and more associated advertising on the website or even product placement in order to pay the bills).

Jan Libby (PM for Sammeeeees) already has some Hollywood types very interested in the ARG/online multimedia concept. It's briefly mentioned in this week's ARGNetcast (sorry, can't create any link from the work computer).

I would bet that they are using this story as a premise for a Cloverfield 2...
