I apologize
No Spoilers

I am sorry to everyone I may have offended tonight. I got on here and ranted about the movie, and gave my biased opinion. Everyone should see the movie and form their own views. Yes I was entertained. I would never tell someone NOT to see this film. I got home and got on Uni. forums and was emotional, so I guess in the long run, the film makers won, because I was vested in the film. I will see it again. Probably tomorrow. You guys are all great, and this has been alot of fun.

Very true. I am sure I will give them my money more than once. I was lucky to see it early for free. The film makers worked hard, and if this was my piece of art, I would be proud.

It's good to see that despite moments of being an imperfect human, one can still come around and be an example of honorable behavior.

Thank you.

Thank you Euchre. My emotions can get me. I feel that perhaps that this film may grow on me. Like I said, I am stickler. I will see this film several times in the theater. I guess there was so much involved in the ARG (thanks to you, in no small part) that I was just expecting something else. But there is no doubt, there is much that stands on it's own, hell, I am getting stoked to see it again right now. Thank you.

Thank nofx, I knew you just needed some time to sit on it and chill out. We all know how much people have put into this film, and it's a bit more of a let down if they don't get the whole experience "right."

*group hug*

Everybody needs their own time to rant. I don't have high expectations going into this movie so my rant won't be rant, it would be more like, Marlena is hot, so is Lily, they would be hot together, crash bang, monster boom end.

Apology accepted. I've been there myself, but in my case I had to go back to the boards where I had been defending the movie for months against early bad publicity and eat crow because they were right. Took me several years to get over those hurt feelings and watch the movie again objectively.

A very wise man...ok, just my theater teacher, but anyway...once told me that there's a tried and true formula for reviewing a movie or show that will get you noticed and respected no matter what your opinion is.

Anyone can say a movie was great or horrible. However, if you can articulate what it was that you did or didn't like, you move into the category of reviewing instead of praising/complaining.

Example
"The acting needed work, but the cinematography was very well done."

And then follow it up with what about those particular parts was great or needed improvement. That's how the pros do it (when it's done right). I don't place a lot of stock in reviews that don't defend their view.

Oh, and the point to all this was I had to write several reviews of theater productions during the class. On one play, I was the only person who actually thought the play was good. Even the teacher hated it (something I found out after the paper was turned in), so I was sure he'd fail me. However, I stuck to the formula and ended up getting an A on that assignment. I asked him why I didn't get a lower grade, since I was obviously deluded about the performance. He told me that whether because I agreed or disagreed with him and the class wasn't part of the grade. I presented my case and backed it with examples.

Don't be afraid to disagree with the majority, but come prepared to back why you feel the way you do Smile

Sorry for the ramble...cold meds and such. Thanks again for being mature enough to apologize.

Your thread actually gave me a smile after I saw your post where you called someone a "douche-nozzle".

Love it!

lol, no apology needed- Bad reviews and movie experiences happen, and when you put alot of time into something and get let down in the end- yeah, it sucks. I think what got to me was just the lack of tact in expressing your thoughts to a majority of people who haven't seen the movie yet and are all [myself included] overly excited.
