"Hi Heather. I'm in Boston and just thought I'd hit a computer (at Burger King, oh joy). I hope you're ok.

I haven't managed to travel much yet, but when I do (hitting the road on the 4th of February) I'll likely only keep in touch by postcards.

Be well.

`` A convo with Brody that got interrupted by my damn job. Caught hell for being late to the ceremony, but it was SO worth it! Sorry my real life got in the way of the game!!! I'll try to make up for it tomorrow!

Jabber IM with hawkinsbrodySPLATgmail.com.10:07 PM
hi brody
Hi Heather. Will you be serving battle, strife or fertility this evening?

depends who's nearby

haha

what's on your mind?

I guess you're low on time. That's too bad.
The world tonight.

tell me about it. I'd skip out but my entire department is here and they'd ah notice.

hehe, sure. You're a doctor for crappy old plays. They need you.

Saving the world, one crummy actor at a time.
10:10 PM
are you still in Boston?

Yeah. That's why I make documentaries.
Yes.

but you make important films.

I like to think so.
Honesty.

Why do you have to leave boston?

That's the best thing about them.

and the bravest

I'm going to spend the week with some friends at a football game.

nice! Anyone from your films?

No.
Not so far.

taking a social break, huh? I can relate. I've been hiding from my colleagues all day.
I love them all but I don't want to drink with them, you know?

Well, I guess it's a break. Just trying to figure what's next. Life's been... messy lately.

messy?

Yeah.

I'm sorry. But who the hell would want a tidy life, right?

It's funny, something about you makes me feel like I can talk.
Thank you for that. It's my normal habit.
I guess we both find strangers a little easier to confide in.
10:15 PM

maybe it's the showbiz thing. People in our fields tend to wear masks when they're not working. I'm most honest on stage, I think. Are you more honest behind the camera?

I try to always be honest. But maybe when I see the nakedness the camera shows, I'm more pointed and able to use what I normally keep secreted away.

Wish I could see your work. It must be brilliant.
Will you tell me about messy or is it private?

I have my moments. But it's never just been me.

I keep watching the clock here, wishing your ceremony away. When you leave, is that the end of you for tonight?
I think will tell you.
Just keep it in your heart,

the ceremony ends at 12:00. I can meet you back here if you like.

I will.
Hm.
Check. If it's possible, I'll be here. But don't let me impede your plans. There are other days.

but if you need to talk now I don't want to let you down.

Don't feel any guilt. We're strangers. It's ok to whisper a few words in passing without obligation.

the promise of dangerous strangers...
10:20 PM

ooh, that's poetic. I don't think I'm terribly dangerous. Are you?

of course! Actually I seem to be surrounded by dangerous strangers these days.
It's been a strange few months.

Really?
Perhaps we're meant to cross paths after all.
I'm sorry, I'm stretching you thin now. And writing like some kind of beat poet, haha///

I would like that if it were so.
You're not stretching me thin at all. And I like beat poetry. I think the dangerous stranger poem is from some beat writer...either that or Tennessee Williams

haha

Tell me what's going on with you, Brody, if you like. I'd love to listen.

Isn't your time up? I have 10:30 here...
Sorry...
11:30

I've got 10:23 and I'm dressed and high-heeled and ready to go. I'm in the lobby, so I'm only seconds away from the ball room.
I'm on central time.

I see.
Well, let me start with a story.

ok

10:25 PM
1 year ago, life was pretty good. I had a thriving company and a bit of notoriety and a fantastic crew.

I've got that impression from your pages...

In June 07 my sister died suddenly. It was a shock and my mother has never quite shaken it off.

oh Brody I'm so sorry. Oh no. how old was she?

April.

April, her name?

Wow, can't tell time, can't remember dates...

oh, it happened in April?

She died in April. Her name is.
Was Laney. Named after my mom. Elaine, really.

That's a beautiful name. Brody I'm so sorry.

Um.
I'm having trouble fixing on when it happened now.
March? April? Anyway, the spring.
I'm sorry, very out of it.

hm. Has that always been the case? Sometimes people deal with trauma by becoming fuzzy about the specifics...
Don't be sorry. I understand.

Anyway, in Spetember, this one I've got nailed down, the 19th exactly, one of my co-workers died. If you've visited the site you may have heard about it. It hit the news in NE and NY too.
I was with her, we were in a car accident.

A car accident, right? You were WITH her?!?

Yes.
Driving.
10:30 PM
I don't blame myself exactly, the other vehicle pulled out.

Oh Brody. Of COURSE that wasn't your fault.

But in some ways I think I hit a nerve in the cosmos I shouldn't have. There I go again, artsy-fartsy. haha

you aren't coming off artsy fartsy. That sounds like the most horrible thing in the world.

Anyway, we were working on 48 Hours in Purgatory, which you may have heard of by now.

I have heard of it. Saw the preview too
looks intense.

So we finished it. It was intense for a lot of reasons. I certainly took it to a level I didn't expect too. But still.
It's a decent film.
Turns out lot's of people are just skin cases for monsters.

monsters?

Well. Yeah.

sh@#$t brody they're calling me

Hard to explain, but the film makes it clear.
Ok, go ahead.

f%&$$k s!(@(*#&t 12:00?

Brody?
Brody I am so so so so so sorry that I had to go I feel awful

Oh Hell Brody I hope I didn't let you down. I feel so terrible that I had to leave when you were talking about such a huge and awful thing. Please know that I am here for you, even though my job got in the way.
I'm traveling tomorrow and so will be away from the computer until tomorrow night. Please feel free to text me, if you like.
agonized,
Heather ``

03 is not a clue, it's a coding screw up from IRC.

Neither a Stardust nor a nairb are registered at uF. Odd that they found the correct chat channel.
I agree,Tiggs,a bit worrying.
