Night vision on a home video camera?

Well, the question is in the title. Is it feasible? And no, it's not spoilerish, it was in a TV spot.

Yes, I have a digital8 handicam from like 7 years ago and it has 'nightshot' on it. Basically the same thing that was in the movie.

As a bonus, if you duct tape an IR illuminator to your camera, you can film in total darkness. Very Happy

Yes, I also have a really amateur hobby Sony camera. But it has IR illuminator and night vision too.

I have a Sony Handycam, it has Nightshot/Nightvision. It works very well. My kids and I like to make scary movies with it.

Winner! Thread over!

Seriously, night vision has been around for a while now. It's actually low light vision, but it still works. And yes, one of the most famous uses of home video night vision involves Paris Hilton. BUT I wouldn't advise googling that at work or if you're under 18 (or offended by...ahem...adult activities).

handycams have a night vision, but it only slows down the frame rate to like 1/20 fps so more light will hit each frame. Becasue of that it makes the picture look like Censored

I learned about the night vision cameras the hard way when I had some friends over and I was trying to sleep. They bust in my door and tried to get film of me in my skivies.

Oh, that's not nice way to use night vision...

I've tried to film with my camera in the basement, and that looks Blair Witch Project alike.
