[THEORY][SPOILERS] Why the movie is called "Cloverfield" Post your opinion! So...I started thinking why the hell it could be called Cloverfield..
As we know, in the end,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The government bombs New York (I'm still undecided if they did)
So...maybe..the video tape is found years after the initial attack...and all new York is now is a field full of Clovers. Completly lifeless?

I remember reading an interview with the director where he said that while they were filming the movie, they used the title "Cloverfield" as a guise, just as they used the names Slusho! and Cheese. They chose the work Cloverfield because that is the name of a street near their production office or something, and the name became known to the ARG/ARE/VMC players, so they kept it.
I read in the same interview that they had another name, but decided against it.

"Greyshot" was supposed to be the other name, which they SHOULD HAVE used.

Some people have speculated that because the monster leaves a footprint that looks like a clover, and then the monsters stomps all around everywhere, so there are bunches of clover footprints making a cloverfield.
I don't know. They don't make it obvious in the movie.

This has been discussed so much, its called cloverfield because bad robots primary production studio is on cloverfield st.
Cloverfield was a working title, they originally intended to give it a different name, pretty sure it was grey zone or something like that but it just kinda got stuck as cloverfield.

ive always thought they had another one picked out but it turned out to be copywritten or something, then they had to settle on Cloverfield, i dont buy this whole " that was the plan all along" stuff;; but i really dont give two shits about the title, as long as the movie kicks ass who cares about the title
