I recall Stephen King was quite honored to have his "lobstrosities" (from the Gunslinger books) used as inspiration many moons back for the design of the little monsters, since his critters resembled crab/spiders with lobster tails, lobster clamps and parrot beaks. Except for the lobster tail and lobster claws, the design is very similar.

And they even communicated with clicking sounds

The little thingies sound an awful lot like grasshoppers in a large mass in a big field(used to live on a farm). Except that the clicks of the critters are slower and louder.

The noise they make sound like Rosie O'Donnell, just sped up:
NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM!!!

And I have to agree, the first thing I thought, too, was that they looked like the Starship Trooper bugs.

And I would have kept the crowbar (and axe).

ya they definitely zerg rushed

but in all honestly I could not stop laughing when they were attacking in the subway, they kept making some cute stupid noise i was the only one laughing and i couldnt control myself.

to me it sounded like a bleh lu leh lu leh lu but fast and as though you just inhaled helium

i must admit the sound was pretty funny. it sounded like if you put your hand to your mouth and said girl boy girl boy sped up really fast and pitched down.
