[SPOILERS] Multiple Monsters? Timeline? *animations*

I think that maybe they had put in a random looking monster in those trailers/teasers.

The monster looked entirely different when it was moving behind the buildings in the movie.

The bit you see go between the buildings looks to be the rear end of the monster, which we don't see very often from that perspective in the film. From what we do see it seems MGP is sort of wider and flatter in overall shape. Because we don't get a 'runway shot' of MGP it's harder for most to visualize every angle he could be viewed from. A taller narrow biped like Godzilla or a T-Rex he's not.
