The Slavic man who stops Hud tells him he's going the wrong way, that he needs to not go that way, that there are little spider monsters and a big monster. He didn't say "Hud, you are the chosen one, turn around and get out of the city, save the cheerleader save the world!"

As for the subway, I vaguely remember a mini-monster jumping at Hud's camera, jaws wide open, and attacking him. When he said "it tried to carry me away" he also said "maybe he wanted to make me his queen". In my opinion, it was just a way of flirting with Marlena.

There couldn't always be a mini-monster attacking Hud during that scene, there were only three of them.

As for the one in Beth's apartment, they were probably just going anywhere they heard/saw/smelled food (or breeding vessels, or whatever they wanted). Most buildings were abandoned, this one was full of yelling screaming people, there's probably hundreds of little monsters, why wouldn't one crawl up there and find them?

As for MGP studying him, why not? The intelligence of the creature is debatable, who says he can't be curious? Here's a slightly pudgy little thing that isn't attacking him, he can check it out for a minute before giving him a little tasty-taste.

Yea tMan. Hud was prob the first time Clover actually saw a human in an open area and was really able to inspect him better.

OK, some of this has been talked about before ... I didn't do a search, so I'm not sure if all of it has, but here goes ...

Does anyone remember a scene - I can't remember where it took place, a stairwell or hallway - when a mini-monster that was after them was attacked and Lily (I think, it could have been Marlena before she exploded) said something like "what was that?" to which HUD (I think) said "something else"? This was after they'd already seen a variety of "minis" come off "momma" ...

I keep thinking about the fact that Ganu was in town talking SLUSHO, that TIDO had poured "a liquid over his head", thinking about that Kishin manga ... and does anyone remember seeing the hazardous waste container on the street?

What if there are two "families" of monsters, and Ganu is one of them ... and TIDO somehow controls the other?

This might explain why one "family" was specifically after Hud and anyone who had consumed Slusho.

Hmmm. Interesting theory.

We do know that HUD has had a Slusho before. (he commented on Rob's blog about working for slusho, talking about how delicious it is)

That was Jason, actually. Hud was the one that said:

Dude I just googled Slusho, did you know they are a subsidiary of some evil oil company called Tagruato? We both know how much you hate oil (you always say "no oil" when you order a hoagie), so you better turn down the job and stay here and live with me forever and ever.

Sounds like Hud never had slusho before.

I vaguely remeber that they jumped at Lily first. And then when Hud went to save her they jumped on him.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. So the monsters can't be going after HUD for DSI, because he's never had a Slusho.

Interesting none the less. When I saw the asian dude or whatever it was rambling to HUD. I swear Godzilla popped into my head with the old man repeating Godzilla.

Anyway. The only reason I think HUD isn't important is because Clover did kill him. If he wanted him alive he wouldn't have "finished" him. But my eyes were so big when the monster was staring down on us. It's prob the most profound memory I have of the movie.

I did how ever found it very interesting that Clover did study him. He was like wondering if he was worth it or not. Then he just said "F*** it" And killed him.

I think it shows that Clover is like a baby in some sorts; curiosity, scared in some sense, from the airal views, he did kinda like "baby-ish" is some aspects.

I unno, just my 2cents.

Agreed, when we saw the monsters face I was just saying "Wow...", the movie was worth the wait and it was awesome, also, at the end with that coney island scene, i didn't see anything in the sky, so why was it important?

also people at my theater clapped O_o

Hey, hey, calm down, buddy. No need to get all nasty. We're all in this together, yadayada.

I think it may have been Rob, not Lily. But yeah, they didn't deliberately try to carry him off. It was just an offhand joke - y'know, like the flaming hobos.

The streets were not full of people being evacuated - not in that area, anyway. If you remember, the streets were dead empty before they went up the Time Warner building.

You know what he means. There were people making lots of noise in there (Beth screaming would be heard from the street probably). And it probably didn't straight out attack them because mini-MGPs can't use doors.

I doubt the validity of the Hud is special theory. I think they just need to get the cameraman involved.
