Matt Reeves interview.. Remember that Big Mutated whale art concept?.... http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=41100
Funny how he reads posts, and see's the fake reviews that people supposedly saw the movie and wrote how it was, oh and that big whale that was supposed to be the monster

That was great! Haha, he just made fun of all the people who thought it was a lion and a whale.
Quote:
I thought, "How can anyone think it's a lion?"
Quote:
and I wonder if people see that and think "my God that's gonna be the lamest movie of all time" or do they think "that's cool"?
I wonder where those people are today? Have they come back to face the music? We should look them all up and call them out.
I wonder what all this was about?
Quote:
there are parts of the monster that can do things that we actually didn't have a place for in the movie, that's how thoroughly designed he was.
And then there was this.
Quote:
The key to it is that the monster was a baby. The monster was suffering from separation anxiety and was absolutely disoriented and pissed, "where's mommy?", and terrified. That was the most important aspect of the creature.
How many people over analyzed this and said it was a metaphor or something. Nope, it was a baby just like they said.
Stay-puff, you are famous my friend.

At the end of the interview, when talking about sequel posibilities,Reeves makes it a point to talk about the last scene of the movie where the object falls out of the sky into the ocean.Right there he pretty much reveals,at least in my opinion, that a sequel has already been penned and is waiting to be made.I'm presuming they've had this all planned since day 1.They've made this alternate world clomplete with history, characters, conflict, mystery, etc. They have put all this effort into Cloverfield and left questions unanswered for a reason people.A sequel/prequel will be here probably in '09.The ARG/ARE will continue. The manga will tie in,but I doubt even it will answer all our questions. There is just too much left to uncover. The first installment of the manga wasn't very long, and hasn't really told us anything yet.Although I'm sure the following installments will reveal more clues,I have no doubt in my mind that it will also leave us with even more questions.Like I said,I'm pretty sure J.J. had a good idea of the internet buzz that would be generated from the viral campaign. This ain't his first time around the viral/ARG/ARE block.J.J. is a very smart person.Although I'm not a fan of Lost (it's alright),Felicity (I think I just threw up in my mouth a little), or MI:3,I can't help but aknowledge his talent. All in all, there will be a sequel, possibly more, possibly a prequel, and the ARE/ARG will continue. If I'm wrong,oh well.No biggie. But I think we all know that this experience is by no means anwhere near over.

Whoa, also another option for a sequel. Someone else on here actually stated this possibility but here:
"There's a moment on the Brooklyn Bridge, and there was a guy filming something on the side of the bridge, and Hud sees him filming and he turns over and he sees the ship that's been capsized and sees the headless Statue of Liberty, and then he turns back and this guy's briefly filming him. In my mind that was two movies intersecting for a brief moment, and I thought there was something interesting in the idea that this incident happened and there are so many different points of view, and there are several different movies at least happening that evening and we just saw one piece of another."
So that means it would be like .hack! The original 4 games took place from Kite's PoV while the manga Another Birth took place from Blackrose's PoV!

I think he was referencing the SP Marshmellow Man from the end of GhostBusters.

what i thought was so hilarious about the interview was how reeves was so "ooh, this secret ending, that's so cool, and you don't know" - i'm paraphrasing - and the interviewer already knew. totally knocked the wind from reeves' sails. they think they are so clever and cool and above us. ummm, no!

We thought we'd have the short little teaser and have people say, "oh, what was that?" What we didn't expect was that by doing what we did people would go CRAZY and that there'd be all this internet speculation. That was a total surprise, and in fact we turned to each other and said, "oh my God, this is too much too soon… this is only July and the movie comes out in January! We better shut up or people are going to be deadly sick of us by the time it comes out."
I think this pretty much sums up what everyone's been saying. They basically got caught with their pants around their ankles by all the hype generated by the teaser and had to scramble to come up with something to keep the fans busy until january. So that ARG/ARE really was just an afterthought...

"CS: It's the thing dropping in the water, right?
Reeves: Ahh, you saw it."
Haha I bet in Matt's mind he was like "f@ck I spoke to soon". He seemed pretty sure of himself no one had noticed the thing drop into the water
