The best thing about this movie, I thought, was that you could do a number of sequels that are all completely different than the next. I was thinking it would be cool to see other people's plights and escape attempts but maybe they never really encounter the big guy but just alot of the little creepies for the whole movie. I think they really made it a point to show other people filming snapping pictures at the SOL's head on the ground. Um... that's all

Could a sequel already be made

It wasn't that hard to make this film. Not hard at all. Hand held cameras and no dollies needed. what if....

they recorded the sequel at the same time? Kind of like when reeves talked about HUD videotaping on the bridge and seeing another guy videotaping as well. Why not use the same extras and maybe two different people and film a sequel at the SAME TIME!

Another thing to point to this theory of mine is the multiple names that the movie had. What if they were code names for the filming of different movies so they wouldn't get them confused with each other.

Chocolate = cloverfield
cheese = cloverfield 2

so on and so forth. See what i mean? This is the only movie where something like that is plausable,

Damn thats an intense thought. I love the different filming code names for different movies! I always wanted an explanation on that, besides it helping cover up what movie the filming was for...

I get you, but I really doubt it. Can always hope, though. (Unless you just got sucked out of a spaceship as it was going 17,000 mph. No hope for you...)

That my friend is a good f'ing idea!
it would cut the production costs on both and allow the money to be used in post-production...maybe it could show like from the bridge gettin destroyed on....like the other camera guy goes the other way, gets off, gets attacked by little monsters for awhile...then meets up with monster after the central park thing...but soemthing a lot better than wut i said

If the the account of the commercial from that fantastic you tube video is accurate, then this is whats said. (I have no idea if this account is true or not, just spec)

"Are you ok? Can you see this?"

"I'm still alive"

"Don't worry, I'm here right now."

If you ask me, this looks like a conversation between two parties. Most likely one between team Rob/Beth, and Lilly. Possibly using the communication system from the crashed helicopter they were able to make contact with Lillys helicopter, or vice versa.

I don't know. Maybe thats just what I want it to be.

Quite frankly, I'm not on board with this whole "anti sequel" campaign. I totally understand the viewpoint of people who are saying this, but personally after 6 months I am not willing to let this go that easily. I want more. Im not done with this, and I bet JJ and crew are not either.

Though a sequel would lose some of the realism (read as: A LOT), it would still be fun. After all, JJ has said that he wants this to be America's Godzilla, and one of the reasons Godzilla is so popular in Japan is because there's over 9000 movies of him. While I think that would be a bit of an extreme, I could easily see one or two sequels; one shot in the same way, and possibly one as a sort of 'looking back' on the monster. We're totally forgetting that this lends itself to being filmed in a war-camera way as well, with the camera-holder being a reporter or someone following the military around. Knowing that MGP survives the first day as well can allow it to have virtually any location, which holds a wealth of possibilities.

As for the commercial- it could very well be a convo between Lilly and Rob, but rather than using chopper equipment, I think it's more likely she's calling him on her cell-phone. The fact that the last bit of dialog also suggests that SOMEHOW Rob and possibly Beth survived the bombing. I don't think that's the case, though.

Hud didn't seem like he was really in shape, either.

I'm thinking that TV spot may have only ran once unfortunately and no one recorded it to download the video. It's a shame really, I'd like to see it. Seeing is believing.
