[Question][Spoilers] For those who have seen the movie...
How big do you think MGP was?

Im thinking he was at least.... while on all fours, 300 ft tall still, but at the same time, probably 500ft long?

the main scenes i judge height from are when you see him towering over the gang before he steps on the tank, and he crashes into the building while being attacked near the end.

Another thing I noticed... the SoL in the poster... unless he was still taller than the SoL, or he could stand up on his hind legs, it would be kinda awkward for him to swack the head off the statue... dont you think?

I think he is ATLEAST 3 times taller when standing up than he is on all fours.

He does, in that news scene where he takes off the parasites.

And I can't easily put measurements on him since I don't remember that many scenes that had something else for scale. I think that his foot was about twice the length of the tank he crushed, which would put it at 20 metres long. One thing I remember easily is that he can fit in a street while barely touching the sides (I base the 'barely touching the sides' bit on the part just before they run underground, the monster's foot/hand lands on the sidewalk near the buildings on the sides), so he's about 20-30 metres wide.

I've created a diagram showing his basic measurements, using the shape of a T-Rex (for convenience, because their feet are identical so I can scale it accurately using the 20 metre figure).

Difficult as it was to give a fictional 25-story monster a sense of authenticity (which for Reeves was crucial to the success of the film), Tippett Studio and Double Negative were further challenged to create scenes of destruction that had to look real to an audience for whom scenes of falling buildings in New York are all too well-etched in their minds.

Mr. Grumpy Pants, a nickname someone started since we had no idea what to call him.

MGP = Mister Grumpy Pants.

Our affectionate name for the monster.

Edit: Too slow for Headman.

Haha, we love him don't we. You know what would be cool, if JJ and DG would name it something with the initials of MGP. A nod to all us UF Cloverfield fans. Then they could just refer to it as MGP during the sequel.

Edit: Very cool diagram Transparent Blue. I like it a lot and I hope you do not mind that I save it to my PC? I do not think MGP is quite that big. We had another thread where we were trying to figure out his size. Some people were in line with what you have in your diagram. I estimated between 350-450 if I remember correctly. I figured if he were bigger than that he could hold the SOL head like a small marble in his massive hands.

"Monster got pissed"

Hah, I have no idea what JJ would name him, it should definitely have the initials of MGP.

My friends thought I was stupid when I constantly referred to him in the movie as "Mr. Grumpy Pants", I just told them to shut up.

I've seen this sucker twice and it's still hard to quantify how big he is. When his forelimb's right 'hand' makes a swath in a building, it's as much as 8 stories high. That's like 80 feet!
Proportionally, it's outstretched limbs seem to be about the same length as it's body. In it's horizontal position the limbs are bent at the joints like knees, and there's like 3 joints per limb - so it's normal posture is far shorter than it's total reach or height if stood full height with forelimbs outstretched. I don't quite think it's as large as Transparent Blue puts it, but I think around 750 feet at full upright stance is reasonable. That's over 1/8 of a mile.

I say somewhere around 40 stories. Explains why Beth's apartment building could've been toppled over like that.
