I dunno if this was said already in here; I used ctrl+f and didn't find anything.

A new thing on Hud's myspace is that it says his height is 2'6" so I guess the lower half of him was eaten.

Or has it always been that way as a joke?

I could see that 2' 6" measurement being a sick joke on the part of the viral people, and even from T.J. Miller himself. His humor is definitely bent. He's been a comedian for a while, and from interviews it's obvious he can come up with his own stuff. I think he probably improved most if not all of the jokes in the film.
