How to drop some product placement without killing TINAG

So, I'm thinking of eventually PMing a small-scale ARG sometime within...um... the next few years (XD) to promote the release of a computer game I'm working on (Which'll be done... umm... sometime before Duke Nukem Forever comes out XD). Now, I have a bit of this ARG planned out, but I'm not exactly sure how to drop the link to my computer game at the end. I don't want to do something lame like Ethan Haas did (Changing all their sites to have links to their game) and don't want to break the TINAG, but... I'm not really sure of any other way to do it. Any tips?

(P.S. Any non-related tips for an aspiring puppetmaster would be cool, too Razz)

Product placement...

Hi!

Well - there are many different ways I could think of doing such a thing...

• You could place 'fake' banner ads on some of your sites linking to the game.
• You could build a website for the game itself and have the players have to pass through it to find some sort of clue or puzzle.
• You could have characters talking about a cool game they were playing (maybe making it tie in because the plot of the game seemed similar to the situation they are currently facing).
• OR... you could get over the whole TINAG thing and finish your game at the starting point of the computer game (and a sales/advertising site).

I personally don't see a problem with this as it IS a game and you are making it to attact people to your computer game. I understand the desire for elegant transitions - don't get me wrong - however I think that I differ from many opinions around here when it comes to TINAG Wink

Best of luck!
