This movie is good and can stand alone to those who are somewhat cultured and intelligent, not brainwashed into wanting bread and circuses.

Stop acting like an elitist genius fuck.

It's an opinion, people are not stupid for having one.

It's just his opinion. Very Happy

It's not even the same thing, and you know what I mean.

I enjoyed the movie a lot and I'd love to see a sequel/prequel/same-timequel as long as it's done properly. The beauty of the way they made the movie is that it leaves so much left to be explained and it shows so much at the same time.

What I'd personally love to see is an alternate view of the same time period. Start a bit earlier, with the Chuai station going down from the point of the US Military (I remember in one of the news-videos, they said US coastguard were stationed in/around the Chuai station area when they heard about the accident) and film it like a conventional movie. Show how they handle assessing the situation and then how they handle the Manhattan attack along with the aftermath.

It'd be cool to show the same events that we saw on the video tape from aerial views. You'd get that whole "hey, thats when the guys from cloverfield were doing X" reaction, which would be great. Things like the monster ripping off the head of the statue of libery, the huge explosion seen in the trailer from the top of Rob's roof..

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Beth's building collapsing onto the other one, the helicopter being brought down, and the hammer down of the city.

There's a ton they can do with what they've left untold. I think the thing that turns most people off about sequels is that the vast majority of them are made just to feed off the hype rather than to be good movies. JJ Abrams had a franchise in mind so I'm sure he thought about future movies prior to making this one and they won't be put together just because this one did well.
