[General Post Movie Discussion]
Overall, what did ja think of EVERYTHING?

So, now that the majority of everyone here has seen it, share your general thoughts on it! Did you think it was worth the 6 month hype? Are you happy with the way everything turned out? Was it about or MORE intense than you expected? Share away!! I wanted to create a "general" thread welcoming ALL general discussion on the film to help organize the post film discussion a bit.

Me Personally:

Despite some pre movie drama inside the theater (lol long story!!, someone got kicked out, it was pretty funny!!) some of my first general thoughts were that I really liked the first 15 seconds with the realism of watching something play off in an SD handycam. Though I kept waiting for footage to begin I thought it was a good additive!

I kinda thought they took slightly too much time to introduce the characters. By the time shit started going down I felt like...'ok, I get it, Beth and Rob are not on the greatest of terms, move on, let's get the party started shall we!". I was VERY impressed by how they introduced the "birth" of NYC disruption with the "in the distance black out of the city". Very realistic! I especially respected them taking out the original party disruption footage and replacing it with the city black out shot. I thought they were a little "too" fast to moving it to the top of the building. Why not elaborate the news cast a little?

So shit hits the fan and everyone starts moving....first "view" of the creature on the news when HUD follows Rob into the electronics store to me was "breath taking"! I loved how they zoomed in to see "things falling off the monster" and the first look of the head crab like "spiders". I was unaware of how Jason dies and when it happened I couldn't grasp what I was seeing I was so surprised! I never saw the tail wiping him out coming!

Uhm, I thought the tunnel scene leading up to the explosion of Marlena and the gruesome'ness' of that entire scene as a whole was "very real" and well done! The Helicopter scene was unlike "anything" I ever expected and hope that Paramount embraces that scene into a theme park ride Laughing!! Also, the .GIF doesn't do any justice to the actual scene of HUD getting ow3nd by the beast! To me, it was so scary I honestly had to look away for a bit!

So overall, I absolutely enjoyed it, I think the critics giving it bad reviews should have castrations done and 911 lady can still kiss my ass! Laughing my gf got a little motion sick so she had her eyes closed about the whole time and she HATED the smaller monsters! I loved HUD, the guy kept me rolling! Uhm, I have no idea where that dark object that supposedly fell into the ocean was, never saw it, but I anticipate a sequel and I think the 6 month wait was 110% worth it! I personally am not a fan of star trek btw but I am VERY thrilled about it now after seeing the trailer for it!

I personally loved the movie. It was definitely worth the hype in my opinion. 5/5 10/10 ya get the point. People who didn't follow the ARG are going to like the movie and those who did follow the ARG can appreciate it. I was not let down. I applaud JJ and Reeves. I have questions about Slusho! and TAG which I'd like someone to help me out on. But thats another story. In the end I loved this movie and I'm definitely going to reserve this for Blu-ray or DVD or whatever format it comes out on.

I don't think it was pointless. I had fun these last 6 and half months.
But I'm just a little confused about TAG and Slusho!.

Okay. I am a very sensitive person. That movie was simply traumaticing. Like, it was so much more hardcore thatn i had expected. It was so real. I cried coutntless times in the movie. Expecially when
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lily cried for Jaosn and Rob cryign for Jason, and at the end. I also cried when I thought about the party and hwo they didn't know. I also screeched like a little girl thorugought the movie.

It was an amazing, emotional ride for me. I felt like the characters were real people. i guess thats what they were going for.

I thought the movie was amazing. I really felt like I connected with the characters, and to me it just felt so real... and disturbing.

The disturbing parts would have to be when Marlena exploded, when the pulled Beth off of the pole, and when Hud got dominated by MGP.

Once question though, when Hud got pwned, was it pieces of him that fell out and hit the ground? Or was it just his entire, mangled and chewed body? I wasn't sure.

I think the ARG was pointless only because the only we gained out of it besides entertainment was a background appreciation for the film.

As for the emotion and fear, all honesty, I found the movie to be FAR more intense than I expected. My biggest fear was that I was going to leave the theater wishing it had been longer, by the time the copter scene came I was like "oh my god, it's over, woah" kinda feeling! I walked out feeling like I had survived something.

I too cried during the movie. I'm a crier, I cried during Shrek. Some sad shit went down.

I didn't jump, or scream at all, mainly because there weren't that many "jump" scenes.

I thought the movie was hilarious. I liked the smart assary? smart assness? of Marlena in the tunnel. "Do you know about Garfield?"

When I first saw the clip of Hud and Marlena at the party, I thought I would have hated him, but he was my favourite character. He had some great lines too.

"Rob, this store is closed", the flaming hobo line, when he was telling the party goers that Rob and Beth hooked up/slept together/had sex together/had sexual intercourse.

I absolutely loved this movie. For me, it is the best movie I have ever seen. The six months of waiting were well worth it. I didnt cry like the saps that posted before me but i did jump for the first time when the monster jumps at Robs helicopter.

Th0e monster looked awesome and the destruction was great. HUD was my favorite character along with Marlena because of the tunnel conversation."You know Garfield?". I didnt get sick with all the shaky. UI actually thought it was a postive to the movie/

Also the best scene of the movie was Jamie passed out on the couch. She got 2.5 seconds of screen time(my friend timed it). Also in the tunnels when HUD is talking about the flaming hobos. His humor was really good.

The suspense is killing me. What is going to happen with the ARE? Slusho appears to be the only website still active, both TIDO and TAG are shut down, the only person we may still get a myspace post from is Jamie... I really hope this isn't the end, way too many loose ends.

I'm a girl, we cry, it's what we do, that and flaunt our cleavage. Or maybe that's just me.

You jumped when the monster smacks the helicopter? I saw that one coming, I mean come on, when Hud said it was down you knew that it was going to attack soon.

The trailers before the movie: Jumper looks stupid, but not as stupid as Prom Date. Step up 2 was ugh, the other dancing movie looks good. Star Trek might be good, I've never really liked Star Trek but the new ship looks kick ass, and Ironman looks really good.

I loved the movie. LOVED IT.

My only gripe is that half of the time I couldn't hear exactly what was being said.. tell which way was up or down (when they were in the collapsing buildings)..
The shakiness REALLY got to me. Not during the movie, but I felt disoriented for a good hour after leaving the theater.

I too got weepy eyed when Rob told his mom that Jason was dead.. I felt for Rog at the party when Beth brought a date..
I don't feel super bad for him now, considering he got Marlena, and Hud killed (possibly himself) just for Beth.
Ofcourse, without him going back for her.. we wouldn't have had much of a movie.

The monster turned out MUCH different than i'd expected. Last week I accidentally came across a drawing of him that made the monster look like a turd... in my opinion looked nothing like the real thing so I was pleasantly surprised.
The spider/crab things scared the piss out of me.

I would have liked to see more of the monster, but I didn't actually expect to see as much as I did. I found myself turning my head all kinds of directions to try and get a better look as if I was actually there.

My friend posted a bulletin on Myspace today saying she HATED the movie, that it was the 'worst she'd ever seen' and that she 'fell asleep 3 times waiting for people to die so the movie would end'
turns out, she was high and just off a plane from the Bahamas.
I'm pretty sure you can't enjoy the movie under the influence of anything. Either you'll puke.. or be too stupid to get into the storyline and hate it.
I think she's a dumbass for going to a monster-movie in handheld vision high, but that's just my opinion.

Best movie i've seen in a LONG time. Didn't expect to feel so much for the characters that's for sure.

Crying or Very sad

That was sad. The sad part for me was
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When Rob's mom calls and he has to tell her that Jason died and he breaks down

My husband and I both loved it...and I dragged him to see it against his will. I've been following along here since July (even though I didn't join 'til Oct) and I knew I couldn't wait for DVD to see it...and I'm SO glad I didn't. I don't even know if I'll be able to appreciate it on DVD after the big screen. The sound was phenomenal. I've never before felt so much like I was a part of the story while watching a movie. It was a new experience and totally worth the hype and the wait.
