1. Cut a hole in the box.

2. Put the thing in that box.

3. Make her open the box...and that's the way you do it!

Sadly, my monster doesn't make girls explode. They just get on the phone with their friends and start laughing.

Consequently, my monster happens to be the thing that explodes, not the girls.

well, NOW i know where the $41 million came from.

not picking on you, or anyone who's seen it multiple times. i've done it myself on numerous occasions.

i have a feeling there's really not much in the film (or the ARG/VMC) to analyze. even the splash and message at the end were pretty much confirmed readily by the filmmakers, yes?

It's pretty common in ARG to look for hidden clues in the backround of videos. But you would need stills for that, so one must wait for the movie to go on DVD.

Yeah, I agree (partly), but I'm sure that there is someone out there with a picture perfect memory who has seen the movie 15 times, lol.

I don't know if this counts as an easter egg, but when there in the subway, Rob was using a Nokia phone, and there was a banner next to him for Nokia saying "Nokia.....Connecting People".

Wasn't quite so "connecting" to the "people" he was trying to reach down there. NOKIA LIES!

Yea. I saw Star Wars ROTS 3 times, so I wanted to beat my personal record. (ashamed of self)
Also, I saw Rambo on Friday night, and I didn't want to contribute to Rambo beating Cloverfield this weekend, so I had to even it up.

I most likely will not be seeing it again until the dvd.

When Rob asks Hud if he "took the tape out" before MGP first hits...there's a magazine basket or some such deal sitting next to him.
The ad on top looks like it's for a camera...at first.

That's when we get the whole cut-to-Rob-and-Beth-on-train thing, and then it goes back, Rob realizes the stuff he shot is being overwritten, says it doesn't matter, whatever.
But the top magazine in the magazine rack changed.

It's nothing that's going to give us a clue, just something I noticed...while vehemently searching for clues.

I really don't think there's much to be had in the wake of clues, as far as the movie goes. I dunno.
The three main portions I think might hold something worthwhile are the very beginning, in Beth's place, and then in Rob's place (the party itself), and finally the small military set-up they have in the mall.
The military scene seems most suspect to having something in it, but that's kind of obvious.
I dunno, I like the movie itself a lot and tend to wind up just sitting there and enjoying it instead of constantly searching every portion of the screen.
And I'm also about to be on my 4th viewing.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that one my next (second) viewing. It seems like a continuity error, but why would the magazine change? weird.

Yeah, those two scenes, plus the electronics store scene, plus some eye catching graffiti.

Can anyone take a pic of the giant piece of graffiti that Rob leans up against right before running into the electronic store? Maybe you will see what I'm talking about, maybe not.

That would be the knee-jerk, anti-consumerism reaction, but one thing product placement can (sometimes) do is add a bit of realism to a film, we are, after all, surrounded by and inundated with advertising constantly in our society.

Yes, but there is a difference between realism, and having our faces smashed into the poop pile.

Example: If there is only one or two Nokia cell phones in the movie, and they are not made obvious, then that is ok. However, if you have a movie (not saying it's Cloverfield) that makes it a point to make everyone use a Nokia, and to make all the ads in the background about Nokia, then that is not realism, that is crap. Again, I'm not saying that Cloverfield did that.

Edit: Although, I am pretty much a socialist, so a knee-jerk anti-consumerism stance would be expected out of me (and anyone who isn't evil, lol jk).

Hence the sometimes in the parenthetical. Cloverfield did it rather well, imo. Many movies are over the top, but simply leaving advertising out of a fictional world isn't very realistic, if that's what you're goin' for in a film.
