not everything means something.

could just be an inside joke or a little "easter egg" for the cast/crew.

if it was really that significant, there would be be something more to it. sure you could all do this pointless research and make up some stupid bullshit connection but what's the point.

just gotta wait for the manga and see if it reveals something.

An 'easter egg' for the crew is a clue for us. If you haven't figured that out by now then...you're lost.

Confused

I strongly disagree
then you're lost....

uhh not really.

"easter eggs" and inside jokes don't always hold any relevance except for a good laugh between cast & crew.

so they put in something absolutely random for the cast and crew to get only? no. they know we are going to analyze the hell out of this movie, so they put in the date for no petuculiar reason or just to fuck with us? either J.J. is a cruel sick man or you're wrong. and i'll bet on the latter choice.

Salted Peanuts.

According to Woodward, Kissinger recently gave a Bush aide a copy of a MEMO he wrote in 1969 arguing against troop withdrawals from Southeast Asia, an issue as salient four decades ago as it is now.

Kissinger's September 10, 1969, advice to President Nixon famously characterized withdrawals from Vietnam as "salted peanuts" to which the American people would become addicted.

Maybe that's how humans taste like to MGP. So he licked Hud a bit, then cracked him and spat him out.

My vote re: September 10, 1969 is a wink and a nod from JJA to
"The Amazing Spiderman" issue #76 / The Lizard Lives.

that means nothing to me. or Cloverfield.

Clone2's reasoning makes sense... Abrams probably put it in as an "easter egg" or tribute to something and THEN realized that crazy people on UnFiction would spend hours researching to find absolutely NO connection... and then Abrams laughed his ass off at you

Don't feel bad, I thought it was a fancy too when Cloverfield came out on my birthday.

Very well written and thought-out assessment. Congratulations. Kudos on the use of profanity.
