I don't think it had to 'survive down there' - in the deep sea. I think it's been buried under the ocean floor for a looong time, in some kind of suspension/hibernation. Like the cicada theory above (good one, btw), or maybe it came from space somehow (like the thing in... The Thing, John Carpenter version).

It has legs and lungs... it's not a benthic (deep-sea) creature. It can live in the sea (maybe even indefinitely), but it's not a sea-creature. Hell, maybe it's both. If it's an alien, or some very ancient creature, it could be amphibious, and then some, i.e., nicely adapted to living in and out of the ocean. But, I'd say it looks designed to be primarily a land animal - there's no fins, and it's tail looks designed more for balance or defense than for swimming. To put it another way: it's a crawly, not swimmy, sort of thing. Smile By the way, the multiple legs could (maybe?) allow it to walk on land despite it's size - that may address some of the complaints raised in the 'science of godzilla' article. Another thought: maybe it's primarily a land animal that has to return to the sea periodically - to cool off maybe (again, a ref. to that science of godzilla article).

Also, it's Mama doesn't need to be way bigger. I guess the question there is whether "baby" means it's newborn, or just young. One final thought: what if it wasn't buried under the ocean floor, but was instead encased in some kind of rock formation, i.e., in an egg of sorts. Tagruato cracks it open and unwittingly hatches (literally) MGP, who immediately asks, "where's mommy?" If that's the case, then Mama need not be around anymore.

the thing i don't get is that if the monster is a baby then the mother must be like 10 time bigger right. So if this monster was living at the bottom of the sea how in hell could it survive with barely anything to eat down there. I think the monster was found on another planet brought to earth to study/harvest for slusho and it is kept in the ocean because that is most like its planets climate. If it does turn out to be a creature from the bottom of the ocean that is stupid because first off the creature doesn't look well suited for the ocean, and is too big to be able to survive off the little food down there. So its either from space or its gears of war style and from the center of the earth.

Have you ever seen a blue whale? It weighs well over 200 tons , is over 110 feet long, and is beleived to be the biggest thing to ever witness the earth. And what does it eat? And guess what we can never run out of? And guess what(if we ran out of them) would destroy the world?

Many many animals don't have to eat to get tons of nutrition, more than they would ever need to live. These things just absorb their food through their skin. IE Lizzards, Amphibians, HUMANS, everything can do it, just some things can do it more, and for some things its all it will ever need to do. MGP had odd looking skin, like a lizzards or a salamanders, so he probably got ALOT of food in just by sitting on his ass resting underwater. And that food was microscopic too!

It has to eat enough to repair its body after a hard days work, and to fill out the calls that its DNA will make, but no more than that.

Well technically ANYTHING is possible, so maybee he has been in the deep sea for so long, growing in a deep hibernation, slowly to allow his body to adjust to the immeasurable preasures produced by the deep effectively.

Perhaps his DNA has the plan to allow his body to hold out under the increadible preasure, and while it is filling out its orders(Causing his body to mature) he is absorbing, quite literally, TONS of microscopic organisms. So when he was awakened, after 1000 years of being in preasures of 1,000,000s of pounds of force per square inch(Fully matured or not) and came to the surface, with whatever innocent purpose, raising hell, we couldn't do shit to him but give him a explosion cut(Like a paper cut to us Razz).

Quoted the wrong guy but its all good

Alright, here's how ya do it. Tie a rope around the damn thing, attach it to the space shuttle and drag him into orbit. Let his monster ass float around in space. "see ya later, make sure your head doesn't bounce off the fuckin moon".

Lol, the way Abrams said it we could just calm the mofo down and put him on a nice deserted island and POOF done.

Well Technically he wasn't as big as Godzilla or King Kong, (From what I put together, stood as tall as most of the buildings when he knucklewalked, but was still able to get up and down the streets without hitting either side) So just chloroform his ass.
