[SPOILERS] Creature drawing
(spoilers, if you agree with my drawings?)

http://bp1.blogger.com/_0Ci5St96ygw/R42wSurgGQI/AAAAAAAAAFY/dlyNcYr45gE/s1600-h/cloverfieldsketch2043.jpg

I saw an advance screening last Thursday in Gainesville, FL.

Here's a quick sketch of what I think is a fairly accurate representation, based on what I could see. Among the other people I've talked to, no one can seem to agree on whether the animal has two, four, or six legs. In any case, it's physiology is pretty unique in terms of resembling anything that already exists. At the bottom is a silly sketch depicting the six-legged configuration; I also have a sketch of the two-legged version that I'll post if anyone wants to check it out. Bear in mind that this is just one person's visual interpretation, and I'm sure my drawings will look different after I see the movie second and third times.

Artwork by Joel Davis (me).

Why does this not seem to fit HALF of the descriptions I've heard? I'm not saying you are lying, but where is the hair I'm hearing about? And the shell? I don't know. I'll have to see the movie and get back to you.

brilliant

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
this is more or less dead-on.

here's the thing, um...regardless of some of the descriptions flying around, while watching the film it is really hard to discern some of the finer physiological elements of the creature (hair, skin texture, etc. shell? wtf is that about? not so much...).

even on the 19th, i think we're going to have huge discrepancies over the little details.

might i add that is a lovely rendering.

.... others that have seen the film say the head is more ROUND.... like a human or gorilla.

This is preposterous. Why are all these new users suddenly joining and then talking about the movie?

Also, Cookson, how in the heck did you get 110 posts so fast? You joined six days ago and have 110 posts. That's one post every 1.3 hours. Whereas I've been signed up since 2006, and only have 190-something (granted I hadn't been posting continuously since 2006, but I was making them quite a bit at the time, when I did).

ALOT!.

I think it looks pretty damn well done, with something like this we're all gonna have different interpretations until we have a a clear and definite picture of good ol grumpy pants. good job though

edit: oh as for the round statement, a gorillas face doesn't look round from the side, its a matter of perspective. just because the face is round doesn't mean the profile will be as well

That picture looks like its in the ocean swimming and it looks to have a lot more tiny arms then i thought. I thought it only had 2 tiny arms with 1 on each side. It looks like it has atleast two tiny arms on each side.

We now have no fewer than five popular sketches of this this creature from various sources.
Almost everyone that has seen the movie has picked one of them and said that it's what the creature looks like.

Oddly enough...most of those pics don't really look that much alike...only in a vague sense...no real detail.

This is disturbing at best.
Not that people are fibbing...rather that it's obvious that the creature is essentially unidentifiable.

I was thinking the exact same thing just now. Well, there are a few possible reasons for the confusion. Here's the ones I can think of:

1. These people are unaffiliated with each other and are just lying to get attention.
2. These people are collaborating with each other and are deliberately spreading misinformation as part of the pre-movie hype campaign so that the real Cloverfield is a total surprise.
3. These people are innocent, did go actually see a movie, and are accurately reporting facts as they saw them; however, they each saw purposely different movies released under the same name, deliberately done so as not to ruin the experience of watching the real Cloverfield on its official release date.

The first one seems to be the most likely to me, even though we do have a surprising number of different people with conflicting information.
The second one is not as likely, but still possible, and it seems like something Abrams is notorious for doing in viral campaigns.
The third one is the least likely, as it would be too cost-prohibitive.

Human/ape does not make a ROUND head, but more ovalish... This sketch pretty much nails it.

Advanced Screening
We believe this stuff

So are we to believe all these "advanced screenings." Who are
these people, besides the press, that get to see movies a week in advance. So we just sit here like zombies and believe all
the cute drawings and all the posts about the plot. C'mon.
