I'm going to buy this if I can find it in stores later this year.

Just thought it whould be mentioned-

I used to work in a store where we sold alot of these limited-edition, collectible-type figures.
First, there is no image up yet probably because the prototype has yet to be completed. I think that is why the release date is so far off- time to perfect the prototype, make molds, etc.
Second, the steep price is due to several things- the limited edition aspect (it did say that, yeah? Or anm I making things up?). The more made, the less the price can be because the inital manufacturing price will be made up. The less made, the more expensive.
Third, well, think. You are getting a 14" tall (or 14" from head to tail?) figure with I'm assuming lifelike (hah) articulation, and a gaggle of bonuses. And it makes noise! This all makes for the hefty price tag. If it was just some little Wal*Mart thing it would be very limited in movement and be smaller, and no one wants that, yeah?

My Unicron, Primus, Masterpiece Optimus, Masterpiece Starscream, Die-Cast Soundwave, and complete Armada set assure you that Hasbro makes good stuff. The figure will be amazing... just not sure how well it'll stand... those weak-ass arms and all...

Isn't die-cast soundwave the one with the saggy crotch? I have no idea about the quality of the construction of that toy, but it just looked like he was wearing a massively saggy diaper.

It's because his legs collapse a little sometimes. Since Soundwave is my favorite TF and there hasn't been a new one based on the original character released in... forever... I like it quite a bit. (And before you say it, yes, I know about the TF:Cybertron Soundwave. I own that one, too. It's a good representation, but I want a tape deck, dammit)

I just wish I could find a cybertron one for a reasonable price on ebay. I stopped collecting between beast machines and the end of the classics line. So I'm trying to find reasonably priced cybertron, classics, energon, and alternators figures which is really difficult. It helps that they repainted some scouts for the movie line. I have classic jetfire in the mail and I can hardly wait, it looks so awesome.

ON TOPIC:
I placed a pre-order on this and have not yet seen a charge on my card, so if you aren't sure if you want one it might be prudent to put an order in anyways and then cancel before the shipping date if you later decide you don't want one. You've got ... 8 whole months to find a spare $100... just don't ask for the fast shipping, that'll run you an extra $25.

I don't think they're gonna sell this in the stores.
The website says, "The Cloverfield monster is available exclusively through HasbroToyShop.com".

On the odd chance it does end up in the stores, it won't be until way after the Oct release from the online store.

Question to all the guys out there: If a hot girl was walking down the street wearing a revealing top and holding onto a Cloverfield toy, would you gawk at her cleavage or the toy?

Me being the uber gay female that I am, would stare at the cleavage.

I would look at the toy. Being that I am rather fond of collecting action figures, that's the item that my eyes would naturally gravitate towards.

I would use the toy as a way to strike up a conversation with the girl. Two birds with one stone, man...

"Hey baby, want to come inside and see my huge 14" fully articulated side-ribbed wide-mouthed monster with detachable parasites? And maybe afterwards, some coffee?"

Through spawn toys my 18in Ash doll didn't cost $100. Not as much articulation but sound clips from the movie, not to mention metal fist and boomstick!

SHE'S holding on to the toy, so that must mean she's an uber-geek as well. She probably even posts on this website from time to time. She would probably know more specifics about the "action figure" than I would.

I also forgot to mention that I'm happily married, so yah...probably best that I stick to just oogling the toy.

If I spent 100 bucks on a toy I would surgically attach it to my hand or something.
