I think the monster went for Hud...got him at least halfway into his mouth, realized he and the camera tasted like shit...and spit Hud straight out. Kinda like when you taste a nasty flavor hard candy or a real spicy hot something or other....the monster to put it simply just went "bleech".
Just like a baby in fact. hmmmmmmm.......

I'm pretty sure MGP just picked HUD up and shook him, he didn't chew or eat him. Kind of like how a dog will play with little chew toys. Just shakin him around. Maybe MGP didn't even mean to drop him, he just fell out while being shook.

Nonetheless, Hud was unresponsive and he's definitely dead. Whether or not the monster (Clover) chewed him to death is hard to tell until the DVD is released.

For me, I would have liked to think that Lily was the only one to survive as she was the first one you expected to die. At least for me, and by the sound of her character and situation, you really start to think she's dying first. Lo and behold, she's saved. (There isn't any evidence suggesting she wasn't, and since Clover was too busy being attacked by the chopper squad, I'd say her and the other three military men made it.)

Hopefully one thing they can accomplish with the sequel is a longer running time and character development. I've seen the monster from the back, the front, the side. The mystery of his appearance has disappeared.

Dont know if this has been discussed earlier but here goes.

Remember when they get attacked by the small monsters in the subway? Marlena gets biten and afterwards Hud says something like... "They tried to drag me away". Apperently he was not bitten but more like an subject for a kidnapping.
I have a feeling that this has some relevance to when Hud gets chewed on and then spit out.

If we look at Hud�s "death" from the scripts point a view and his character, it would be just inline with his person being chewed on by a monster and survive. The possibilities for funny Hud dialogues in a sequel are infinite.
