[INFO] Matt reeves Confirms "Whisper" Interview with "io9.com" http://io9.com/346501/io9-talks-to-cloverfield-director-matt-reeves
Quote:
So, at the end of the film, after the credits, a walkie-talkie crackles to life and you hear... something. What is it?
"Yes, you do hear something! That's another sort of radio chatter moment. I don't actually want to give that away at this point, because it is decipherable. That's the very last thing we did on the mix, I sort of jumped up to the microphone and did this thing. I know someone will figure it out, but I don't want to give it away yet"
Funny how he jumped on the mic once again aside from saying that infamous line, "Its alive, and its huge"

Nice,
So either 1, he doesn't look at the sites like these, or 2, we just haven't found out what the whisper is saying.

It sounds like "Help Us"
But when reversed its
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Its Still Alive"
I think thats why he didnt want to give it away...kind of ruins the movie if you havnt seen it.

Well at least it's confirmed he says something. Next step is confirming what he said.

if matt reeves said it...that means rob didn't say it...which means there's no reason to believe that he's still alive...or at least less of a reason.
i think the message is already deciphered. I think the hidden message is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"its still alive"
and i think that its just hinting the possibility of a sequel...nothing else

In working with him I was very interested in what the creature was going through, and we came up with the secret that the creature was a baby. It was this enormous baby that was going through terrible separation anxiety , it didn't know what was going on, and it was pissed. I wanted a creature that would be ferocious and angry, but also that there would be fear in the eyes. He showed all these sorts of fearful eyes, like how horses have a lot of white showing under their eyes when they're scared. He would always come up with these diabolical features that the creature would have. He has a singular talent, and he's really amazing.

Matt reeves wasn't IN the movie, so thats not entirely true.
Also, he said it was the last thing they did in the mix. The mix usually takes place long after the the cast has gone, and just before the movie is released. Even if it was intended to be Robs voice, they would have had to used somebody else's anyways.

That is one thing that I noticed when looking at MGP. Yes, he's huge and kinda scary and there's all this alienness to him. But the eyes are very big and round, damn near manga style. It's a weird aspect, I seriously noticed that in the middle of it wreaking destruction - for a moment, it was like watching a kid have a tantrum.

If you go back a good way there's a reference made by JJ as I recall that the 'secret' to the monster was in the roar. It had the mournful sound like a whale, but I'd say now it's more they meant it to sound like the wailings of a child in distress. The demeanor of MGP during the film is not one of vengeful assault but instinctive reaction from a distressed creature. Make no mistakes though, this isn't a baby bunny - more like a baby rattlesnake. It's a baby of an aggressive and predatory species, and as it came ashore it was just disoriented and like many kids - ready for some snacks.
Nice that Reeves would confirm that his voice is that used for this little bit. I also like that they found a way to carry the content past the credits. It gives the film more of a feel of being raw footage. They only put the credits in there because they 'had to'.

Yeah that makes lots of sense actually. I kept watching the guy who posted the video of good footage and when you see the monster getting bombed it looks like he's going "HEEEEY, CUT IT OUT MAN DX THAT'S NOT FAIR, I CAN'T REACH YOU GUYS" He just looks like a child that's being picked on. So it would make sense that they say this.

Dude, wouldn't that be awesome, if Matt Reeves wrote himself into the story? Kinda like in The Dark Tower series, where

Stephen King becomes a real character, and not even just a random writer named Stephen King, but the writer of the very story he's in.
