Just something I noticed in people's reviews...
...no matter how long or how short.

In my eyes, the audience of Cloverfield is divided into two clear-cut groups:

1) Those who loved it
2) Those who hated it

Correct me if it sounds a little far off, but I seem to be noticing that those from group 1) have been congratulating JJ Abrams on a job rather well done Re: Cloverfield

I have also noticed that those who fall into group 2) are wondering what on earth Matt Reeves was thinking...

I thought this was quite funny. Poor Matt.

Yeah. Mat Reeves really didn't get the credit he deserved.

[the breakdown]

I find that people tend to NEED closure, a 'happy/fulfilled ending. And for a regular audience- Cloverfield didn't provide that. Many people also expected this movie to be solely about a monster. But there's actual human emotion/acting in it and that deterred many 'monster fans'. Also, people wanted a full explanation of where the monster came from and why its here... But people gotta realize that this movie was from the view point of a regular everyday person. I mean, That's why I found the most realistic about this movie was that there WAS no explanation. When 9/11 happened, the people who were first hand witnessing the attacks had NO idea why this was happening, they just knew that it was happening. That's what this movie captured so amazingly. I for one enjoyed the movie and became a bigger fan of it ever sense I saw it.

And yes, it is a 'love it or hate it' movie... because it's different from what people normally get these days.

Right on xboyonfirex...

But it would have been nice if the movie was a little longer to help answer some of the ARG questions but not necessarily give closure

The manga will answer alot of the questions left open by this ARG and the movie. I'm sure of it. Next installment is in Feb.
Be patient.
