Marlena was my favorite girl ... but my favorite character overall was Hud.

I guess it works out Very Happy

Still ... I really really wanted Hud to get something more substantial. But there was something poetic about the timing in her ... well, you know. Just as she was starting to warm up to him. I think that ending the exchange there made it much more poignant than it would have been had the relationship had developed any further.

I don't get the Marlena looking like a crackwhore bit. She wasn't supposed to look her best, especially with blood dripping from her eyes and nose.

But while all the Cloverfield girls are pretty, Marlena was a much more offbeat and interesting pretty IMO. The others look like typical Hollywood starlets.

Marlena is a total badass. She beat the hell out of that little parasite, and didn't even pause or flinch at doing it. She toughed out her pain more than most might even be able to. She stuck with the group despite the fact she didn't owe them anything. I couldn't be more impressed with that display of character.

Although all 3 women are at least generally physically attractive, their personalities were quite distinct and so I feel differently about each one's fate - as I'm sure others will too. Lily is a very sophisticated, cultured, and socially sensitive. Those are great qualities, but not so much as to draw me to her over the others. Her fate as likely surviving is fair enough, because she is such a decent person. Beth is frankly a brooding drama queen. She's relatively weak too, despite enduring what she does. She may manage to drag herself with Rob and Hud despite her physical pain, but she's emotionally unable to cope. Her comment at the end in the tunnel sounded pretty selfish to me. That being the case, it's fairly hard to feel that sorry for her.

Marlena fought to keep herself and others alive. That makes her death tragic to me. She demonstrated quite a composure despite that, so her death ends up being quite honorable.

That and she's hot as hell.

I would pick Marlena out of any girl in this movie. I just love the tiny girls with smart-ass attitudes.

As someone else said, when you get a girl like that to say "I love you", you've done something special.

All my friends that I went to the movie with said she wasn't hot but clearly she was better looking than anyone of the other girls. I just clearly didn't find them attractive. What a horrible death though.

Lily wasn't my favorite, but I'm okay with her surviving. She's no weakling either. She didn't turn into a blithering mess when her guy was offed and she was pretty strong throughout.

I would have been annoyed if Rob and Beth had lived though. I choose to believe that yes, they did die. Even though I didn't hate either in the movie I found both the least compelling. I get Rob's pain and his motivation for finding Beth, but it was a bit much that as soon as they got out of the subway he raced for the guys to get help for Beth. Completely ignoring the fact that Marlena was right with them and actually needed medical attention right away.

Then Beth just seemed a bit of a whimpering mess. At least Lily and Marlena took their injuries/situation with some sort of dignity.

I think all this business about Marlena looking like a crack head might be attributed to her eyes. Which I think are completely beautiful. But I think people just confuse the way her eyes look, with crack-headedness. They've got a very unique appearance. Personally, I think there her best feature. (the actress)

And If you people are referring to the way she looked after she watched people get eaten right in front of her, or the way she looked after she was mauled in the subway, then you need to rethink what your sayin'
