What do you mean she's dead? Who cares. She can still be in the sequel. Didn't anyone see "Weekend at Bernie's"?

Lizzy Caplan is gorgeous. Not too keen on those Stuff pictures though, I like her hair shorter.

And I agree that anyone saying she "might not be dead" has something severely wrong with them.

But seeing a monster from the very deep deep ocean breathing just fine on land is an ok stretch of the imagination? Or that the same monster from the planet earth could resist damage to it that would have destroyed the most hardened object on earth. Thats fine to. But if someone sees a character taken behind a screen and sees some blood splatter, and thinks they could still be alive, well thats just being dumb? Confused

Not to nitpick, but the whole argument about MGP not taking enough damage from bombs missiles etc is easily dismissed. It lives at the bottom of the ocean under tons and tons of PSI pressure. It is probably extremely molecularly dense. I know this wasn't your main point, but....

Not necessarily. Pressure difference is what causes damage. If the inside pressure is the same as the outside then there is no problem. Fish live at the bottom of the Marianas trench and don't get crushed because the DIFFERENCE in pressure is 0.

Quote:
The trick is to keep the pressure inside the fish the same as that outside. Only pressure difference can crush. So, if the difference is essentially zero, the fish is OK. Fish tissue is at about the same pressure as the outside pressure and thus experiences little if any pressure.

Quote:
"Those with gas bladders manufacture the gas in special glands that have the same pressure as the surrounding water." So, the gas is at the same pressure as the water and, therefore, doesn't compress. The gas presses back on the water with the same force that the water presses it.

However, if MGP doesn't have these gas bladders, etc, he could have to have extremely thick and tough skin. I think the decision to make him almost indestructible is because of this common misconception that deep sea means you have to be super strong. The only reason we have to use incredibly thick deep sea subs is because the pressure inside cannot be as high as outside because a human can't live in it.

Why do I keep hearing people say Marlena's head exploded or she got shot in the head or something.

Did you people miss her whole body expanding behind the curtain and then POP. If it's any consolation, I think her head was fine, I thought I saw it drop to the floor after her body burst.

I cant comprehend how someones torso expanding can equal HEAD ASPLOAD! I think a large majority of people have less than stellar vision due to this.

What I find extremely humorous about all of this...

Before the movie was released, it seemed more people were in love with Beth.

Now, everyone is in love with Marlena... *Not saying she wasn't attractive... Wink *

...Because bite victims explode. They're working in a quarantine environment. If you have someone explode in a quarantined area, you've got fresh blood an internal organs splattered on all of your people that could possibly contain more hazardous materials.

I think its because as far as character is concerned, we've seen the "Beth" character so many times. Its old hat. You dont see a "Marlena" type character nearly as much, so people are attracted to that, and maybe can identify with it.

I believe this site ranks you on how many posts you make. I've seen many titles under people's names.
