Only if its a prequel or the aftermath. No different POV.

Only way I take a different POV if it was on the DVD when it came out.

Once again, I am forced to ask someone, what were you more interested in, the ARE or the movie? I know what the answer for you was, as you've given it away in your post. If the ARE was more important, your logic is based on the ARE rather than the movie. You're doing it wrong. The move is far more important. A sequel will jeopardize the movie. Any sequel will ruin the first movie's legacy. You think you're some sort of expert on mystery movies? Hardly. If you were, you'd realize that the best mysteries are; Number one, never truly solved. And number two, far more powerful and significant without a solution.

Care to try that again?

The ARE is the backstory of the movie, the universe in which it took place. To separate the two would diminish both.
People like to insult sequels, but the truth is that only bad or superfluous sequels have any negative impact on the movie. If you only tell part of a story, it makes no sense not to finish it.
Also, I was talking about mystery novels and never claimed to be an expert on them(pay attention next time). But while we're on the subject of movies, could you name a single remotely popular mystery movie that never gets solved? Or do you usually walk out of the theatre halfway through?

Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Cloverfield is maybe part of the middle, but there is a LOT more story to be told. Do you really believe that the guy who still has everyone clueless in Lost after five seasons couldn't maintain any mystery for two movies? When and if we ever figure out what the monster really is, the answer will almost certainly raise further questions.[/code]

I think that a Cloverfield 2 would be good, considering how good the first one is. Definitely a new POV would have to be introduced, but in the same storyline with different characters, but it should have cameos of all of the characters from the first.

My two cents.

To be honest, the only way to do a sequel would have to be in the same setting with a different POV, if fact it doesn't even need to be a film, it could be a mini-series of different accounts. It could still leave the mystery and can have the same level of character development. As for the different POVs could go, my friend Trey came up with the idea of it all being in the perspective of the cameras on the side of the soldiers helmets. If it is made as a mini-series then there could be so many pieces of evidence.

And as to the whole "the film is not about the ARE" well I'm going to tell you, the film is a part of the ARE. The clues aren't to help answer the film, the film is just another clue. This is an experience, not just the film. There should not be a sequel that answers all the questions as we are supposed to see all the evidence, the film, the sites, the videos, the pictures and draw our own conclusions.

cloverifeld 2 petition

The reality is the film bombed at its second week of release.

Imagine a record breaking January 2nd week dip to 68% from the previous week.

Hey, reality is that Meet the Spartans conquered the second week and I highly doubt Paramount/Bad robot is in a rush to make Cloverfield yet

Two things,

A) it did not bomb, most movies will take first place when they first come out, just because they're new. And Cloverfield already way surpassed its budget the first weekend, so anything it makes now is pure profit.

B)I doubt they'll decide whether or not to make another movie based upon an online petition. Especially one that they'll probably never even see.

On A, no, only one movie takes first place when it comes out, not most, there can be only one (first place each week).

On B, absolutely yes. Online petitions are among the most useless of "activist" tools. All they say is, "yeah, I'm too lazy to get away from the computer screen." At least in most cases.
