WHAT THE F*** HAPPENED TO MY TOPIC?!

I come back two days later to check if I had any replies, and I'm delighted to see 9 pages of them.

But then I check them, and they're actually just 9 pages of some douchebag flaming everyone. That's not cool.

Please resume talking about Hud getting chewed up like a gummy bear, and less of the homophobic flame wars, hmm?

*picks up coffee cup*
And all of you who were flaming in here...I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday, mmkay? Greaaat.

Edit: After looking at the "Drawing of MGP" topic, I realized something: MGP's eyes are really...scary. It's like...they resemble something familiar, but at the same time, they're just different enough to be unrecognizable. For something so huge, its eyes are pretty good at emoting, because, damn, that thing looked pissed at Hud.

I didn't think it looked pissed... I thought it looked curious.

I was actually wondering if maybe, rather than being killed, Hud's legs were taken off?

That would also account for the change to his myspace page, yes?

I don't know. Maybe I'm just being optimistic. Ahaha. Razz

Would be kinda hard to take off his legs if he bit him from above. That would mean he'd turn him around in his mouth, bite off his legs, and spit the rest out.
Hud's donesky, deal with it.

Maybe he bit Hud in half, then let both parts fall, and we only see the top half (only the head, actually).

I dunno, Rob ran over to Hud as if he thought that there was a possibility that he was still alive. I don't think I'd call Hud's name aloud if I saw parts of him everywhere.

That's not necessarily true. We don't even know that he "spit out" Hud... Hud may have just fallen out of his mouth. I don't think table manners are high on MGP's list...

Ok FELL out. That doesn't matter, the point remains the same that it's unlikely that mgp ate his legs and not the rest, while the legs are on the opposite end that mgp was biting at.

Maybe they just saw his upper half and thought he was alive, the grass was rather tall. The would explain why they broke down when they got close to him, because they saw that he was dead.

That scene was extremely surreal...the way it just stared at him, that moment seemed to go on forever.

I was hoping it was going to get a missle on the side of the face or spare him but obviously that wasn't going to happen, this isn't a monster with a heart of gold deep down...it definitely wasn't King Kong. Laughing

Hud's death was a huge shock to me, the fact that he was my favorite character and the POV kind of made him feel exempt.

Okay, this might sound ****ed up but did anyone else think it looked sort of cute when it was facing off with Hud, just studying him?

It's the eyes.

wow did this thread get off topic. Well, I have to say that the Hud/Darwin scene was the coolest, yet saddest, scene in the whole movie. It was awesome to see Darwin so close, but it sucked to see Hud go out in such a horrific way. I agree that it is kinda wierd that Darwin comes out of nowhere, but after watching the movie a second time I realized that it could make sense. Every time Darwin shoes up you dont hear him until you see him. This is really evident in the scene where the army fights with him in the middle of the street. You dont hear him but when you do you hear continuos crashing. My theory is that Darwin jumps A LOT, which is why he seemingly comes from nowhere. We did see he has hops from the helicopter scene.

Where did it go off topic? We've been talking about HUDs death for the past 10 posts.

I would have bought the fact that he jumped over there, thats what I thought but you would think that would have made some sort of noise or visible tremor.

Lil baby hell terror just seemed to come out of nowhere like Micheal Myers or Jason Vorhees.

There was alot of noise going on at that point but nonthing that seemed to indicate a large impact (such as a leap) or a quick jog over to their position.

I know what you mean. Still, for all we know Darwin might be light on his feet Very Happy . Heres hoping this does get cleared up eventually.

hmmmm

Yeah, it was like a giant Cloverpuppy. Puppies are adorable, unless you happen to be the wounded mouse they're playing with...

I think the monster was trying to figure out whether Hud was a threat. Up to that point, most of the humans it saw were either running away (and therefore probably not worth noticing) or trying to hurt it, but Hud was just standing there. My guess is it had to look reeeeeal close to see something as small as a human being with any clarity, finally realized that he was pointing an object at it (up to that point everyone who was holding something up and pointing at the monster was just about to shoot it), and bit him just in case. I heard somewhere on here that it normally eats using people-sucking tubes on its underbelly, which I suppose it normally uses to suck little things off the ocean floor. Its mouth is probably mostly for self-defense, so it just bit him and wandered off.

Unrelated: I HATE it when there's a movie in which gigantic monsters are always trying to eat humans. King Kong bugged the crap out of me with its gigantic fight scene (the fight itself was pretty awesome) in which about a half-dozen Tyrannosaurs were fighting and dying for the chance to eat a human being. This would be the equivalent of being in the Asian wilderness and having every tiger within a thousand mile radius show up to fight over a mouse. She wouldn't even be one mouthfull!
...Anyways. My point in that is that I doubt anything as big as the Cloverfield monster would be getting much satisfaction in eating something as small as Hud unless it was eating a LOT in a short period of time. I could see it stopping to munch on a crowd of people or to chew in self-defense, but do you stop what you're doing to eat one grain of rice?

Final thought before I go to bed: jets flying past this monster into the city point to the possibility that they were heading off to bomb its mother, who is probably the greater threat. If it has a mother. Just saying.

I think it's safe to say the focus was Junior and his tiny pals, I don't really think any of his fellow oceanic abominations were involved in this at all.

Hud's MGP senses would have been tingling if they were, he was gifted and slightly awesome like that.

Shame the big guy couldn't even muster up the common courtesty to eat him whole instead of spitting him out like he was garbage, Hud seems like he would have tasted like chicken.

Speaking of the jets at the end...WTF? They don't look like any jets we have in service! They had forward-swept wings. The only fighters I can recall having that particular design is the X-29 (just a testbed), and the Su-47 Berkut, which never even had a prototype built.

Unless JJ Abrams is a big Ace Combat fan, and decided to throw some X-02 planes in there at the end.

Not related to the topic, but just sayin'...
