[QUESTION] Night-time attack photo

 		the monster has adapted its skin and muscles to endure MAJOR amounts of pressure..from living in the deepest part of the ocean/oceans,enduring that much pressure makes the monsters skin very tough. and the muscles EXTRMEMLY strong. it can survive...pretty much everything. soo..i wish the Army or whoever knew that. then they might say screw this and run. Laughing

i found a FAQ that told a lot about the monster.
i can post it if anyone wants it?

The jet attacking on the top right I really can't fit in any of the U.S. current attack fighters. The logo on the tail fin doesn't seem right either. Figure I'd throw that out there.

The plane on the right is an A-10. Would you use it for a naval strike? Wouldn't be the first choice but against the monster which has no air defense you wouldn't not use it. With its cannon and firing Maverick missile (TV guided air to ground) it would be a choice to use. Its not flown by Japan.
The top two are probably F-18's. Well suited for a naval or ground strike mission. Also not used by Japan.
The ships on the right are Ticonderoga class cruisers (later version) of the US Navy. If you look just to the left of the missile plume you can see just part of the AEGIS (don't ask) panel. All other classes of ships with that radar system have panel that point diagonally out in relation to the hull of the ship/ Take a look.

Though the Tang ship in the Manga is most likely an Atago class destroyer or the Japanese Self Defense Force.

So yes I feel safe in saying it is US forces attacking whatever they are attacking. Not to mention I realise in the Manga Tang has naval warships, but seriously those are like 600 million a piece! And thats before crew, weapons, fuel and training. I would imagine a company owning such a ship would send up red flags everywhere.

btw, i was under the impression that the a-10 only had the gattling gun. i mean, the airplane was literally built AROUND the damn thing.

Yes it was built around the ability to carry the gun, and have a titanium "tub" that makes up the cockpit to protect the pilot. But it does have wing station hard points for bombs, missiles, rockets, and fuel tanks.

If this think cant rock MGP, only the power of christ thru Mike Huckabee and CHuck Norris can beat MGP.

 		Actually the planes at the top are Navy F-18 super hornets, the other, A-10

Also, its nice to hear something about the ships too, as we focused on the planes!

Zaggs, do you have some sort of military background? or do you just love cool vehicles (like me!)?

 		It's an A-10. No mystery there.

The other two look like F-22s more than anything else.

Another thing, I think that the picture is a composite. It has to be. No aircraft is going to launch A-G missiles that close at a target, nor would any ship be right next to the target when the explosion is that big.

I would love to say that for awhile I was heading to go into the navy (personality and marriage changed my plans) and that is the sole reason for interest in military vehicles and what not. Though a huge helping of probably not having a life may have a little more to do with it lately. Laughing

Isn't it WAY too late in the game to be applying real world logic to all things Cloverfield? Though yes your are correct in your observations. Hell I dont even think a ship COULD launch missiles that close.

Muscles maybe, but skin? Fish that live in the deepest part of the oceans are not indestructible. Not to mention something that lives that deep most likely then not would not even survive a trip to the surface. Most people think of the tough skin because humans need a ball of titanium to go down that deep, but not the case for anamils that live there. Hell just look at tube worms.
I've also heard someone say that because of depth the creature is impervious to heat, huh? Only if it lived on the edge of a black smoker (like the giant tube worms) would this be the case. Otherwise being that its colder then hell frozen over then dipped in liquid nitrogen I would imagine it would react badly to heat.
