You're obviously going to enjoy every aspect of the movie alot more if you've been following the hype surrounding it (All of the viral websites, and teaser vids).

If you just went and saw the movie for the heck of it, you're going to view it as just another monster movie and have a (most likely) totally different opinion on it.

That's the only reason I went to see the movie. I hate monster movies with a passion, but the way it was presented pre-release was incredible.

on it's own (minus all the viral support), i don't think the movie was very good at all.

counting all the viral info, as well as the unconfirmed but inevitable sequel, the story as a whole (a la kill bill, matrix series, star wars series, etc) seems pretty cool. and the way they're piecing it together is as impressive as anything i've seen.

As a huge, huge, monster movie fan, I liked the movie, but was disappointed in the quality of the special effects. I almost always hate CGI, so I know I shouldn't have had my hopes up, but even so, the CGI was not up to par (as is the case with most CGI, but still). I also wish they hadn't shown the monster as much as they did. It was a lot cooler earlier on, when you saw just a part of it and said, "Is that a foot or a nose?" (Exaggeration, obviously)

The movie could've been longer, too.

As it is, it wasn't my favorite monster movie (Gojira was about as good, as was The Host, but I don't really have a favorite, I guess), but it definitely stands out from the rest (in a good way).
