Repeat Cloverfield Viewings?
Heading for number three...how many is it for you?

First time poster here who LOVED the hell out of this movie. It is most definitely a theater movie more than a TV/DVD viewing. With that said, I have seen the movie twice now and have spent around $30 all told (ticket+food) on this movie. It is hard for me to justify going alone for a third time and spending another $10-15, but dammit, I wanna see it again!

Am I crazy? Or have other people around these parts seen the movie 3x or more? I'm curious to hear from others.

Jason

Wanted to see it twice friday (a midnight showing and the following night) but no one wanted to go again. Seeing it in an hour for the second time.

Going again this weekend. Only the third time. I'm such a loser.

Midnight showing on the 17th/18th. Skipped class today to go see it, there's a movie theatre nearby. Two.

Plan to go again tomorrow, as it's a 30 minute drive to my campus and I have a few hours between classes.

I can't get enough of this movie. I get paid Friday, I'm sure I'll go once this weekend, too. And I have several friends who still want to go.

I only went once so you aren't a loser. I thought the movie was incredible the first time I saw it, but now it's like whatever, it was alright. But that's okay, because I went into this with a strong hate of monster movies, and I still hate them. The monster was a let down but the girls were hot, so it evens out.

It still isn't the best movie I've seen recently.

3 times in all! I personally loved it. And I agree, it's definitely a theatre movie...but I'll still buy the DVD, haha.

Second time tonight, my girl and i both agreed it was so much better the second time. Plus cause i knew when the monster was gonna show itself i got so much better a look and feel for it this time. I think also cause we were in a smaller sized theater. the one i saw it in Friday was massive. Id never seen one so big, if u sat all the way in the back, the screen looked tiny. so the sound had more ground to cover. this one tonite was much smaller, so the sound had much more of an impact. thats one thing that makes the movie is the sound in it. its gonna lose so much on the small screen, thats one thing thats gonna suck

Three times last Friday - but want to go again, to REALLY catch the things that others on this forum caught. And to experience it again - the sound really makes the movie! First time - Dolby surround sound - awesome! Second time - DLP (Digital Projection) - picture was lighter and clearer - sound again awesome! Third time - regular old theatre. Sound was low and sucked ass. I felt bad for everyone seeing it for the first time that showing - they didn't get the full effect of having explosions, gunfire, ROARING right there in your face!

DVD will be awesome - we have surround sound in our family room, though we're gonna need a bigger screen....

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm likely headed back to the Regal in Times Square (where the cast watched it with us last Friday by the way, very cool) for my third showing tomorrow. Here is my question...I notice the theater has a few DLP showings for Cloverfield and I am wondering if it is worth it to try that one? Anyone have any DLP experiences they care to share?

I agree with everything you said. I thought it was 100x better the second time around, and seeing it in a smaller theatre with basically nobody in it made it SO much better.
