Ok.. let me see if i can get this. Not exactly sure what your talking about but here we go.

The white streak from the rig is a gun shot.
The thing that the arrow is pointing to is either the water splash from the gun shot or its MGP sticking out of the water a bit.

The news reports, I believe it was the German report, talked about noticeable gun fire coming from the platform during that clip.

"Although the videos are of very poor quality it seems as you can notice a gun fire from the platform."

In my opinion there is actually more than just the one shot into the water. There are at least 2 or 3 if you watch the video.

edit: there is a jif too showing the tenticle/tail/arm grabbing one of the legs of the platform. I will see if I can dig it up.

It's not the same one I saw before, but you can see the tenticle/claw whatever clearly in this video.

You can also see the seconds following the OP jif in this video, with the dark shadow object seemingly moving off in the water.

okay so the animation sucks. now that i look at it it does appear as a shot.

watch the video. right as the crane begins to fall, a white object jets from the top of the platform into the water. not a flash and then a splash, but a white projectile.

Pwnd.

Thats one hell of a gun. Though could be a missile being fired. Or someone who picked a really bad time for a smoke break.

Sorry , not a tentacle. As the support girders on a drilling platform go under the water, they get bigger in width, to stand up to the pressures of the open ocean water. What your seeing there is the wider girder as its pulled up out of the water due to the platform convcaving inwards

Are you guys looking at the same picture I am?

Because it seems to me that something's coming out of the water, not going into it. The flash, I mean.

Talking about the left, foremost pillar.

The rig's supports as the rig is standing unharmed are painted red above white, and this white extends well above the water line.

As the rig is going down, the white actually sinks into the water for a second, to where no white is showing.

Instead of seeing red to white paint in this shot as the support leg is bent further to our right, causing it to come up out of the water a bit, we see a perpecdicular dark object wrapped around the support leg covering up the paint. The white paint on the leg should be nicely visible, but it's not. Something's covering it

However, after looking it at like it mattered, I say it's just as possible it's a wave of dark water folding up onto the support as it sinks as much as anything. Smile

It's all in good fun anyway.

edit: Sorry, the original video the short clip above was taken in from shows the red/white paint. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KarNwKx5mGY

Thats the exact same leg im talking about, front left. Think of the supports as elongated cubes , with the above water cubes sitting ontop of larger cubes underwater to the floor of the ocean. thats what your seeing. its the larger part of the leg. it just looks like something is wrapped around it, but its just because that part is bigger. And where on the creature were there any tentacles anyway. unless your in the whole "theres more than one monster " camp

It was initially called a tenticle before anyone knew what MGP looked like. To be consistent with the naming on the video and the prior discussions, I labled it with a few names to help avoid confussion.

Are you saying the part we are seeing is normally under the water line, and because of the design of the supports/pillars the bigger part of the pillar comes out of the water?

okay so in the video of the chuai station attack, about 25 seconds in the second time you see it, a white object jets from the right side of the station into the water. faster than gravity could possibly do. maybe pressure from the explosion? i made a shitty animation look below

I agree with Roe.

At 29 seconds in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KarNwKx5mGY

I think you see "something" coming up the leg. It looks like a hand/appendage to me. To me it looks like it comes out of the water, on the front left leg, and covers the white paint part of the leg.

At 28 seconds, the thing comes out of the water. There are two bright "lights" that i think are spotlights. It only lasts for about a second, but as the station is pulled down, there is a very large splash in that area.
