[48][Reference] The Story
Timeline of what has been hapenning in the world of the characters

The story begins with Brody Hawkins and Veronique joining forces in 1999 to launch SKG films together in New York, which is home base for SKG still today. Not too much is known about their early years, other than they succeeded in making apparently more than a dozen of documentaries, one in which won Veronique an award for her film "The Shipment" which chronoicles her the search for a package containing a rented fake severed head that never arrived at it's destination.

Fast forward several years. March of 2007. Brody is in love with Veronique. He is reasonably aware that she shares his love, but neither have made a move yet. One fateful day, Brody buys an engagement ring with intentions to propose. Later that very same day, his sister, Laney, dies. Wrecked, he never proposes, keeping the ring in the box for months. Somehow, the death of his sister on the same day he bought the ring, makes him superstitious...feeling like the ring is bad luck, maybe. In any case, he puts off the proposal and never makes a move.

While searching for the next big thing to make a documentary of, Veronique proposes the idea of 48 Hours in Purgatory. What if you were confined to a room for 48 Hours and forced to just think? Forced to face yourself? They ran with the idea.

In late August or early September, they began taking applications at a university. The first subject was selected. A professor at the university.

Shooting begins on the professor, referred to as subject one, location Brantford, Ontario. As the interview progresses towards hour 18, a large storm occurs.

During the storm, hour 18 of the interview, the professor wigs out, claiming a ghost was in the room with him. The cameras picked up a chair moving on it's own, but no dead girl. Despite the subject wigging out, the crew does not open the door. They do nothing, just watching and filming. By hour 20, the subject is calm and asleep again.

After the subject wakes, he claims in the interview that he has seen small instances of things he feared or imagined irrationally coming into reality. He fears his nightmares may one day come to life and "gobble us all up". He brings nightmares to life.

Brody takes a break from the interview at this point and starts his blog on September 12th at 6:30 AM.

By 1:30 PM that same day, the interview is over. But we later learn that something else happened during the interview....Brody mentions in his blog "what did I do wrong?"

Saturday, Sept 15, Brody goes over the tapes with Arkham, his camera man and location scout. They were specifically examining the incident with the chair. They rule out tape glitch, but Brody seems to let it go as some kind of one-in-a-billion storm anomaly.

Brody has interviewed his next subject he plans on interviewing. The model who looks like a suicide girls spokesman. By the next day, Brody is sure he will use her, claiming she has serious issues. A month later, while interviewing another subject, he's going over this pre-interview and thinks the girl looks like Veronique under the tattoos and wild hair...

At this point in time, Brody is just finishing setting up the new SKG office and is trying to get his website up and running to recruit applicants from the web for his documentary.

Wednesday, Sept 19th, the day of water. Veronique calls Brody to pick her up because her car would not start. At the office, Brody is miffed because the guy who was supposed to finish the website never showed up. Veronique and Brody decide to go to the movies together. We later discover that Veronique had been trying to make that move with Brody, rehearsing in to video log how to ask him out to the movies. It seems on this day, she had finally gotten the courage to ask him. Brody had decided that tonight was the night he would propose.

That night, Brody and Veronique get into a car accident. Veronique dies on the scene. Brody a witness to it all.

The following days for Brody are spent in depression, contacting V's friends attending the visitation. Regret weighs heavily on his heart, regret for waiting to make his move on Veronique.

On Saturday, Sept 22, Brody heads to Boston "to say goodbye". He takes a walk over a bridge there, and tosses the ring he was going to propose with into the ocean.

On the plus side, he does get the 48-hours.net site up and running briefly, but he quickly takes it down because it is inadequate. He fires the guy who he hired to make it and decides to get someone new.

From here on, Brody has his good days and bad days. Some days, all he can do is think of Veronique, be depressed, let the regret get to him. Some days, he's in much better moods, he's productive and optimistic about finishing the documentary.

On Sept 24, Brody steps out of a coffee shop and thinks he sees Veronique disappearing into a crowd of commuters.

Brody and the crew spend the next few days setting up the locations for the interviews and working on making the site go live. They decide on the sawmill in Brantford and the an old pool in Hanover. Both towns are in Ontario.

On Sept 27, Brody calls his cell phone to check voice-messages and hears it ring and answered by who he claims was Veronique. Who then hung up.

As the month closes, and October begins, Brody starts mentioning issues with leaked footage, specifically being posted on youtube.

October 1st, Brody and his new internet nerd buckle down to get the website up. Brody mentions that he's going to save the model for last. He believes there is something special about her.

October 2nd. The site finally goes live. Brody switches his cell phone number to his office line.

Brody has a dream of Arkham digging a grave outside location one and buring a scruffy fat guy alive. By Oct 3rd, the website has gained a lot of interest. Brody receives hundreds of e-mails from people interested in applications and buying T-Shirts.

Oct 4th, Brody finds Veronique's notebook. He reignites his regret and love for her. He remembers how brilliant she was. And he begins finding entries about how she loved him and wanted him to make a move...

Oct 6th, Brody starts a youtube channel to prepare for the submission video. Also, Jaime, an old friend of Brody's, drops by for a visit. She used to be a full-time model, but is apparently now part-time as she recently changed her hair color and job by becoming a screenwriter.

Oct 9th, the invitation video goes online. Brody mentions an idea to post the ideas he's pulling from Veronique behind "a gate" persumably on his website, but we have yet to find it.

Oct 10th, Brody has managed to get a few promotional sites up (ie: myspace), but doesn't plan on doing much with them.

Oct 12th, Brody has made an overnight drive to Canada. He believes he saw a hitchhiker on the way that looked a lot like Veronique. Shooting of the next subject is planned for this evening. He also wants to reshoot the invite video after dinner.

Oct 14th, Brody finishes interviewing subject two, a prostitute. Brody mentions her being pretty upset at the end, saying he thinks she'll leave and go kill a man.

Oct 16th, Brody mentions the next subject's preinterview. Subject Three, AKA Apple Sauce Guy. "He went on and on about water."

Oct 18th, Brody is done with the interview of Subject Three. He mentions in his blog:
"At one point, apple sauce guy was calling me on.

I've found the door to madness, H.

We gave him a gun. He pulled the trigger."

Oct 19th, Brody has another dream:

"The film subjects were sheets of glass. Each one was broken into 15 pieces and I had to put them back together one at a time. The hard part was finding all the pieces. But I had to do it. I put them together my own way and the very last piece of glass slipped and cut my wrist open. My blood was my creativity and it ran out of me and turned to ashes and blew away. I ran after the wind, to no avail."

Oct 22nd, Brody mentions some camcorder footage that was lost on a plane. He's worried that the footage will be leaked.

Oct 24th, Brody starts getting pressure from the studio execs, the distributers, to take down the invite videos and replace them and extend the deadline which had been Halloween. Brody mentions his disdain for the execs on several occasions, pushing the envelope for what he can get away with.

Oct 25th, Veronique's notebook Brody's been reading is still getting to him. He begins to feel a deeper and stronger desire to go back in time....he wants to change things.

Oct 27th, Brody prepares to head back to New York for some time off before the next set of shooting takes place. He also has a meeting with one of the execs.

Oct 30th, Brody finds a box of old tapes in Veronique's storage. The next day, he can't seem to find them. These might also be the source of some of the videos we've found.

Nov 2nd, Brody finishes interviewing subject four. The whore. Learn about what we know about her in the characters section.

Nov 4th, Brody is in one of his bad moods today. He posts this on his blog:

"But if someone felt the need to toy with my life for their amusement, and I can't get revenge directly, I'll find another way.

The hell you made for me is coming for you. You injured my heart and my soul is traumatized."

Nov 5th, Brody mentions someone he calls "The Malice" coming to help them with the last bit. A big black guy that used to work with them.

Nov 7th, Brody prepares for another dive into location one for an interview before moving on to the next location in Hanover. He also sent the execs a new invite video, but they felt he should use the original video...which we found out was done by Veronique herself before she died. It has yet to be posted on youtube.

Nov 9th, Brody finishes the interview with Subject Five, Bones, Mark T. He also receives the invite video V made.

Nov 10th, Brody mentions dreaming of V...on more than one occasion. She's always alive, trying to get someone's attention.

Nov 12th, Brody's birthday. He receives an email containing a small love letter and a link to SKG Films from Veronique. She had the site made before she died and set it up to be delivered on his birthday. He can't get in, though, since it is password protected.

Nov 13th, Brody, drunk, decides to push the execs. He delays the release of V's invition video. He wants to piss them off. He's pissed off. He believes nothing can stop the project now.

Nov 14th, Brody is hungover. He talks to the execs who agree to give him a week to post the new video. He also finds the password to the site "written on a sign."

Nov 15th, Brody starts seriously considering a Guerilla marketing campaign. It was an idea he found in V's notebook, and he also has a lot of fans that have been e-mailing him that he is considering using as a street team. He mentions a disk he has to drop hundreds of copies of before the release in January. Probably a teaser trailer.
He also finds a video of Veronique winning the award for "The Shipment" documentary. It contains some other "cute" moments. But it only adds to the pain he feels with her gone. Two months, and he's still battling the depression, the grief, and the regret.

Nov 17th, He's still working on the marketing campaign idea. He's aware he only has a small window of time to do it right...He's still finding more tapes, letting himself dwell, wishing he could go back...

Nov 18th, Brody's resolve in finishing this film is intensified. He decides to shoot a few extra people to make sure he has a good choice on which to put in the documentary. He also mentions offering the tattoo-girl, the model, more money so he can take her to a new level, do something more extreme....

After those points, everything was filmed. Brody kept making progress and although still having mood swings, he still managed to come on AIM and chat and complete the filming.

48 Hours In Purgatory has came out in the end of 2007 and Brody has been missing since then. Last heard from him, he was in Cleavland, Ohio. On the side his partner Jagt has been imminent that the truth must come out because "people deserve to hear the truth".

okay, thank you Leith, thank you Will, thank you Tim, thank you Connie!!!!!!
Should we update it again?

We get news that Brody is leaving Feb 4th to go towards Connie. He tells The Mirror that the 'deep is cold and dark'. He's going to send her postcards updating everyone of his whereabouts.

The password for SKGfilms.com is found and Veronique's diary is accessed. PhantomJester finds a message postbox. Everyone sends emails and someone starts responding with cryptic notes missing vowels.
