There is a chance that the dates are just flawed.... the viral marketing and storyline just doesnt add up to the movie, maybe they arent as connected as everyone thinks. That is what I think. I think that perhaps the movie takes place May of 2008 not 2009 and they just messed the date up. Not likely but still I think people need to stop trying to combine the timeline of the film and the ARG, ti doesnt add up and all the theories about 17 months inthe future, 5 months in the future or in the past can be debunked one way or another.

Just need to wait for a sequel , the dvd release (and hope for explanation), or some more viral stuff that may come in the future

The dates aren't connected at all IMHO. The dates in the film are the way they are due to weather related reasons alone. It's cheaper to film in spring time...which they actually filmed in the summer time roughly.
So it stands to reason, they couldn't have the in movie date as 1-18-08 in NYC cause there would be no ferris wheel scene, possibly snow on the ground, etc. The expense to the producers wasn't worth this date issue it seems. And understandably so IMHO.

I think the only thing that qualifies as a huge inconsistency was the timestamps on 1-18-08.com. If they were posted with the correct timestamp (5-23-09), it would pose as nothing more than a confusal for most people visiting the site with the release date.
