MONSTER DIFFERENCES
I'm NOT saying there's more than one.

The monster looks TOTTALLY diff EVERY time we see it.

Parts I remember:

Glimpse Between Buildings: Turtle-Like Shell

Entering Subway: Bug-Like Creature

Beth's Apartment: Seriously Looked Like T-Rex

Monster Getting Bombed: Awesome Original JJ Creation Thing (lol)

And Finnally HUD Scene: Human-Like torso

There's other parts but I cant remember.

Looked the same to me. Except maybe on the news broadcast, but that was at a weird angle.

All those shots are from different angles. I look different from different angles.

Never let a girl look down when standing in front of you. Always make sure they're looking up.

they get a straight shot of nostril avenue, and a good view of an ugly view of someone's 'super-ego'.

I prefer an eye-to-eye ratio

Yea, but people still look basically the same! You can tell that its the same person from diff angles DUH!!

But this monster just looked soo AMAZINGLY different.

My favorite was on the news cast because thats like the real glimpse we see (besides the famous between building footage and the tail part) and ALL the kids who didnt take a peek at the Now-Famous gif. of the monster about to eat Hud or the VERY ACCURATE drawings of MGP were soo amazed when they caught that first REAL glimpse of him.

It looked the same to me everytime...

the height looked a bit different at times but, I don't think there were any dramatic inconsistencies.

my girl said the same thing the first time we saw it , that it looked different every time. i told her it was just that your seeing it from different angle and for short glimpses. when i saw it the second time i could definitely tell it looked the same every time, its just its so massive your never getting a good total look at it until the end of the movie. the overhead shot is so freaking awesome, just the way it moves and all. but thats it , thats why it seems to look different

To me, without a doubt, the scale of the final Hud scene monster seemed considerably smaller than the one running around the city. Still very large, of course. But smaller. When the monster steps on that tank right before they get on the copter, its foot easily smashes the tank. It would seem, based on that size comparison, that a single human would be almost too small for it to even bother with.

I'd really like to see some actual production notes concerning size and scale.

I agree as well; that monster semed ill-equipped to rip the head off of SOL. Either it was "smaller" intentionally or the CG modelers failed to keep it real.

A monster large enough to grab the SOL head (and throw it with authority) might have a difficult time resolving a miniscule Hud underfoot and an easy time swallowing a human whole.

Well the changing look of the big guy/girl/it can be different camera or lighting effects plus your eye picks up other details.

But in another sense what could have been seen as a shell may have been the parasites clinging to the back. Its back may have been covered in the little buggers clinging on giving the apperance of a shell. And like roaches in the light given the right cause they took off running. And over the course of the movie enough fell off making it appear to have shrank and bit and lost its shell. Just my idea I dunno.

Well, the SOL isn't as big as many people seem to think, it looks larger than it really is and its on a huge pedestal. Well, now I am rethinking this..... now I am taking into consideration the claw marks on the SOL's back after being decapitated in the poster. Oh fiddlesticks!! I dunno!

maybe I should go see it a 3rd time....

the point still remains that the foot that we saw crush the tank in scale would have been attached to a larger monster than the one we saw chomp on hud. maybe it was the angle in the scene, the lighting, or even a fluke of cgi. im willing to accept and discard each. mistakes are made but it does not effect the plot (unless there are really multiple monsters) in any way. movies still gnarly.
